eric3a, 2 1/2 years in Mexico on a 27' sail boat never once in a marina. Charlie Chaplin fathered a child at 67, much as I like the activity I am not jealous of him. How well you maintain any engine is up to you. With the average outboard you don't have to worry about running to lean or icing. R rae...

Columbia River, Puget Sound, Florida Keys, and Matagorda Bay,Texas. Places I have had my 26X in one 12 month period of time. Try that in a 20' trimaran. Places yet to be visited Windward and Leeward islands, Bay Islands Honduras, Rio Dulce River, Princess Louisa Inlet, Sacramento Delta, Nova Scotia,...

Well, I am beginning to doubt if that was King Neptune that spoke to me. It might have been one of those old geezers off of one of the shrimp boats across the street. Howsumever he sure did look the part. So much for humor, The swing keel stays. And for what I am sure, the same reasons Roger used it...

Frank

I have known about those for quite some time. I understand that they are noisy and vibrate and also quite expensive. I am not sure I would travel far enough to amortize the expense. Also if boarded by the coast guard and they notice it??????? Damn good idea though.

Jonbill anything able to be towed behind a 27 foot boat is small enough to interest many of the fish out there. Once they hit it, and they will, that pretty well terminates the items usefulness and leaves one lacking for whatever purpose you purchased the item for. And if it is inside the boat and i...

Jonbill Yes we opened a tavern. That is the project that kept us from using the boat this summer. Not really a good business to be in. People will surprise you when you are on the other side of the bar. We closed last Friday and I doubt we will reopen. You are welcome to stop by anytime Just come on...

Frank, this 68 YO brain could not recall the exact capacity of the ballast tank. I fully intend to leave each port with it full. Experience tells me that in between fillings I will probably use less than 50 gallons. Since the tank is unavoidably an integral part of the boat, it is far better full th...

Yep, ballast tank. Once I flushed it and set it up with a pump Sailing would be finished for sure. lots of remote islands, plenty of water would make life far move enjoyable. I do not understand how a partially full ballast tank would be unsafe if you are not sailing. I think your right a short keel...

Power sailor (long)

Well, here is a post that may,,,,or may not open a discussion and perhaps add a wider dimension to the term POWER sailor. Bought the 26X some years ago and shortly thereafter moved from Washington state to Texas and started building a new home, and other projects. So we did not use the mac nearly as...

Mallard, The 26X is not the best sailboat made, it is not even really close......BUT The 26X is the best trailerable sailboat that I know of. It also is the best shallow water sailboat as well as being of reasonable quality and low maintenance.... However For me at least, it is first a sailboat, and...
