I started a post about my engine stalling too, and had no one with any ideas to post. I've had the same problem as you docking with the wind and current. Most people say to go in the slip SLOW, but I find in those conditions that I need to have some motor speed, so the boat is going where I tell it,...

Wow - $950 each! They look nice, but that seems so expensive!

This stern seat isn't available to fit the MAC, that's why I was wondering if anyone has bought one that does fit, or has modified theirs to make these on the MAC?

Stern Seats on the Mac 26x?

Has anyone put stern seats in the back, on the rails, like this picture on link below? I assume they would need to be special for the Mac 26x?

25 hp Suzuki 4 stroke won't idle when warm...

My 25 hp Suzuki 4 stroke on my 2001 MacGregor 26x won't idle when warm. I have new spark plugs, new fuel, I set my idle higher (it idles fine when first warm, but not after running the engine for longer than say 15 minutes), cleaned carbs.

Any ideas what the problem might be? Thanks for the help.

I'm sorry, I should have given more specifics. I keep it in a slip in salt water - I never take it out of the water. I pay someone to clean the bottom each month, so I know there is no growth. I'm sure after 6-7 years it could use new paint, but I'm wondering if I don't want to spend the money right...

I get the bottom cleaned every month, so I know I don't have algae, shells, etc. But if I don't get it painted is there harm that can be done by just having old paint, if I keep it cleaned? It's been probably 6 or 7 years since it was painted. Thanks.

Anybody? I know a lot of you are sailing experts, and I'm very new. If anyone knows, please post it. I'm sure some others are interested too. Thanks.

Bottom Paint question

How long do you usually go between bottom paint? I have the bottom of my Mac 26X (2001) cleaned every month.

What harmful effects happen if you don't get it painted often enough?

Thanks. :macx:

Thanks for the advice. I went out Sunday, and you all were right, I wasn't going fast enough. I got to 8mph and it drained. I only have a 25hp, so I top out at about 11mph. Looked at the 50hp, and it is several thousand for a few more MPH.

Problem emptying ballast?

I've owned my Mac26x for a few months and tried to empty the ballast the other day (on the water, traveling about 6 mph under motor). I opened both ends of the ballast (under the front cushions, and pulling the lever on the back - you can see I have all the sailing terminology down), and nothing dra...

Then steer behind your back??
Also would be difficult with other people in the cockpit, wouldn't it?

Jib Sheets back to Helm?

I have a 2001 X and my jib lines stop by the cabin opening. Has anyone run them back to where the captain sits? It would make life so much easier. If so, do you have any pictures or suggestions? Thanks. By the way, thanks to all of your advice I had a great time in the San Diego Bay watching firewor...

Thanks for all the advice. I am much more confident now. I was hoping I didn't hear a lot of "Don't do it, novice!"

I will definitley make a trial run, and stay late after the fireworks. Hope you all have a great 4th!
