Don't for get the dagger board.

Your dagger may not have been painted and if your leaving a ft in the water you have a ft of barnacles. Yes antifoulant paint will slow the boat down about 2-3 knts if it's just rolled on. And Newport is a healthy growth area as well. Take the boat over to T Warf on the south side of prudence. There...

Cleating the Furling line

I would like to know if the fuling line was cleated with the regular cleat or a cam cleat. I've seen a few boats out there with cam cleats or sheet stoppers (cheap clutches) for the furler. The furler should be stowed with a real cleat, especially if your leaving the boat unattended. Just a guess It...

Tohatsu Lovin

Enough of this Tohatsu lovin... There's got to be a Tohatsu out there that Died? (other than the resale value) How about a Mercury? Any big foot stories there? (I would think you could shoot that motor and it will run another season) Again this needs to be motor issues... Not Operator Error. If you ...

Bilge Pumps

My General rule is never run a centripital bilge pump through the sink drains. The back flow will fill the boat on a long reach. A check valve will slow the flow down but what if something gets caught in the swing... water in the bilge. Diaphram pumps have double checks in them. But I still will put...

Showers

I put a couple of showers in X's It was part of the Presure Water Upgrade. It's really not too hard. I suppose you could even mount a Y valve and suck from a sunshower if you wanted to get hot water from the sun. The only thing I tell DIY people is look before you drill. I doubt Fixing a ballast tan...

Out Stranded in the Cold

We have heard about a couple of Honda's and a Suzuki ? Any one else out there who owned a late model motor and had to call for a tow home. And what brand of motor was it?

Is there an old faithful motor out there?

Clunking is fine

Clunking It's the Grinding that is bad. Dont slowly put an outboard into gear. If you go too slow it will grind and become worse over time. Also make sure your idle is 900 or below. I keep mine around 700. (Tohatsu) She has never stalled. But then I have a TLDI and the Computer maintains the RPMS at...

Hat's off to Paul

My hats off to you and and your wife. You must really have a sense of humor. The only thing I had go wrong with boating with me was a tangle with the Brightman ST bridge in Somerset. When I was heading out to the bay the bridge tender yelled at me for making him open the bridge because he said I cou...

Paul... Your friggin kidding me... Honda with a bad pump. Go figure. You're becoming the posture child for the M aren't you. I'm glad I had nothing to do with that motor. 8) Honda's have been getting beat up lately on this board. I'm also glad your safe and made it back. (sails pretty good doesn't i...
