Not to offend m'ers here, but with the x it was love at first sight, while the m left me pining for my old girlfriend. I really believe Roger likes experimenting and Mike Inmon confirmed the x mold was worn out, hence the change. The new m was a nice try at making sailing purists slightly more happy...

New AL Trailer for 26x?

How much did macgregor charge, what did you do with the old one, and how well does the new m trailer fit an x? I need to upgrade pronto.
Thanks!

Sloop, I'm so sorry, I can't imagine... Stay busy and keep living life. I too enjoy your wit, and I appreciated your info on how to arrange the x's table cushions(I couldn't for the life of me get it right until your post). I'm 42 and still can't get my wife to sail after almost 5 years with the boa...

Mark, do you tie your halyard to the pulpit for your long high speed Catalina runs? People who motor frequently at high speed on the bumpy open ocean (me and my 90!) should always reinforce the forestay with the jib halyard to pulpit secured slightly tighter than the attached forestay tension. I thi...

BTW, that 18 knot cruising speed is 3/4 throttle, 3500 rpm. Plenty of power reserve to hit 22 knots when need be.

Hi Mike this is Rolf the baker. I've had a 90 tldi for almost 3 years now, and I do 18 KNOTS loaded down for weekend no ballast in smooth conditions to Catalina. This is with mast/dodger bimini up and 10 foot dinghy on bow, wife and kid on board. Use 6 and a half gallons for the 20 mile trip which I...

For all the x vs m questions in the future-- If you own an x it is the best boat for everything, if you own an m it is the best blahblahblah.

The main thing I don't like about a separate tank and bulb for a small extra motor on the back of your mac is that you need to keep it handy(which really mean in the way) in the cockpit since the connections to your large engine and its tanks are different. This is true even if the motors are all th...

Think twice about a nightside 4th of july trip unless you are VERY comfortable about all the nuances these boats have. I was new to my x and boating when I decided to take another couple and their kid over to the Queen Mary firework show in Long Beach(Calif). During the course of the evening, some o...

I have both the 4 stroke 4horse and 3.5 tohatsus(nissans). They both have built in gas tanks and perform fantastic, the 4 horse has reverse while the 3.5 doesn't. They both push the macx easily up to 6knots in smooth conditions. The 40 pound 3.5 is imho the best power to weight ratio of 4 strokes. T...

With my 90 hp tldi tohatsu, I averaged 18.5 KNOTs (over 20 mph) to and from Catalina (21 miles each way, perfect conditions) last weekend. Burned 7gallons of gas each way at 4000 rpms. Mast up, 80 pound inflated dinghy on bow, bout 600 pounds of people and stuff(including me) on board. I have video ...

Some advice--

Longer time till empty means more disgusting, but don't empty for at least 4days up to 2 weeks. This gives the chemicals a chance to break down the paper and other unmentionables. Otherwise be prepared for some gross splashing(hint- empty slow and keep flushing!!!)!

I like it too. Maybe a little steeper angle would improve it. Also a cool piece of electronics like a radar/TV((:) dome would help possibly.
