Enjoying the theory
I'm no professional sailor, but I was enjoying the theory and brainstorming on possible mods. Each crazy idea I read on this board makes me think of something I hadn't considered previously. John I thought that was harsh and not in the spirit of this discussion board. If it irritates you, don't clic...

Snapped our mast in half
My story is not quite as entertaining, but I learned that you shouldn't go under the power lines with the mast up on your way to the ramp after setting up in the parking lot. It took me some time and about $900 with shipping included. I bought a "bare" mast from Havencraft (who is no longe...

pumps in series
Hi Ken, I had a similar experience when I bought a cheap live well pump at Walmart to use to create a shower in the cockpit area. It was only $17, but would barely lift any water above the cockpit. Still being the cheap SOB that I am, I decided to pay another $17 and buy another as an experiment to ...

Mini Keel - possible to construct on a 26X
Deac, Thanks for taking the time to do a great review. I read it with great interest. I am teetering on buying a new boat versus doing some radical modifications to my '99 26X. Was going to add lead to the center board this winter. Could you describe the location and rough dimensions of the mini kee...

Thanks for the info. Mark
I have almost done the same thing several times Mark, sorry it happened to you. I have a Honda 50, so your tach not working symptom is a great tip....... hopefully I will stay lucky and not make the mistake. Thanks for posting, it will help many others!

Re: Lake Norman Mac
Lake Norman Mac, You can email me at Capt26x@yahoo.com to continue the conversation if you like. I have never participated in the regattas, but it would be fun. Just about every other boat is going to pass the Mac26X ,but they won't be more comfortable though! Getting the Mac was one of the best thi...

Great Sailing Lake!
Welcome to Charlotte Harry! The first thing you will find here are very few people from Charlotte. The majority are people like you and I that came and stayed. Yes, I gladly accept the term "Damn Yankee" :D Lake Norman is the largest and best sailing lake in the area. It has over 500 miles...

Same crutch roller problem on our '99 26X
Mark, I had the same problem. I noticed that with the pressure of the mast on the roller it would move side to side and bind on the roller supports on either side. It only took a few minutes to take it apart, put some bearing grease on the roller axle and add a few washers on each side as spacers. T...

Starting simple first
I should have thought of this sooner when I saw your post. I have a Honda 50 and have the throttle mounted vertically on the starboard side of the pedestal. One day I was having some strange engine problems after a day of sailing. I found that one of the electrical connectors that link the throttle ...

Adding ballast to center board
Hello fellow Mac26Xers, I've sailed our 26X for about four years now and still love it. I find myself looking at other boats however for a couple of reasons. I would like more room (for storage also) and more stability under sail. My first mate is constantly nervous in larger winds due to the amount...
