SJB;

Killing two birds with one stone here. Since there is a "water shortage" here, I've been doing my part to save water by letting the lawn go brown, and thus, don't have to mow it :wink: Gives me more time on the weekend for things I rather be doing, like sailing! :D

I use that line to hold my radar reflector, up high near the mast. It is also used to pull up the zip on cover for the furler. I secured it to the pulpit rail at the most forward point, the mast holder area. And it saved my bacon when my furler came apart. The bottom bolt had unscrewed, cotter pin w...

I have two 50' lines run from the bow cleats to the cockpit. I also have a 25' line from each stern cleat. This gives me flexibility as to which side to tie up on. Preping the boat for docking includes fenders over the side, rudders and centerboard down, lifelines down, and dock lines coiled loose. ...

On a recent trip as I went below my bare feet stepped into about 3" of water. Thinking we were sinking, looked everywhere for the leak, finally discovered the drain plug on the ice chest had come loose and drained into the cabin. We use the Coleman 5 Day and it sits on the floor forward. Whew!!...

When dumping the ballast, I watch my speed on the GPS. As the water exits, my speed increases, once it stops increasing, the water is out and I shut the valve. I've opened the valve at the ramp to check, and never had more than a cup of water remaining doing it this way. As to ballast while motoring...

I've done basically the same thing. Mix a can of "Sea Foam" with a gallon of gas in a small gas can and run it through, let it sit, then run regular gas thru to flush out the cleaner. Then I do my 50 hour maintance which includes oil and filter change, lower unit lube change, and plugs cle...

I use a short piece of nylon webbing with snap together buckles. Around the wheel spoke and the pedestal pole to hold the wheel in position. Available at your local army surplus store for about a buck. I suppose a short bungee cord would work also.

Back home again

'Iwalani is back in the driveway and emptied out. Sorry we didn't make the party at Reid but things, and not good things happened. When switching tanks, my engine went to hull. Idle and low speed is rough but WOT is OK. Sometimes dies at idle. Went back to the other tank but same situation. No place...
