MacGregor Trailers

As I look at pictures of the 26's sitting on their trailers, I have to admit that the trailer looks ridiculously small for the boat. It would seem that a double axle should be a necessity. What experiences have people had with this setup? I know that MacGregor claims that their trailer is within spe...

Swing up rudders for M19

A while ago, someone posted a mod for the M19 where the rudders could be pulled up from inside the cockpit and then lowered into position when sailing, just like on the 26X and M. It sure would make beaching and shallow water sailing easier. I can't seem to find it in the mod search function. Anyone...

M19 Sail Stop Size

Hope you folks can help. I need a sail stop for my M19 main mast to keep the sail from falling down when furling. West marine sells a number of different shapes and sizes and since they aren't cheap, I'd rather not experiment. My boat is at a mooring, so I have no way to measure until I actually go ...

Bow chocks for M19

My M19 has no bow chocks for anchor or mooring lines. I've seen mods where they are installed next to the bow light, but that location allows for no access for bolts and washers. I can't believe screws in the fiberglass deck would be able to take the load. I don't want to mess up my deck or tear up ...

Trailer fender woes

The factory trailer for my M19 (original,-1994, not used that much) has fenders bolted to the frame on stalks. I noticed driving down the road that the fenders bounce up and down about 3/4" when hitting rougher patches of highway. I was hoping to tighten up the nuts on the ends of the stalks, b...

OK! I'm number 7. Bummer ! It's eight degrees here in Bean town with 50 mile gusts! Will I ever get to sail again? Anybody actually know the real # of Mac19's out there?

Well, upon further investigation, my dealer is doing me a big favor by installing the water separator filter. Virtually all gas in the US is now E10 with 10% ethanol, which can be murder on outboards. If the tank isn't used up within a few weeks, the alchohol combines with water and creates all sort...

Could you give a little more detail on what B-12 from Walmart is? Sounds like a simple fix, assuming it doesn't harm any rubber parts. Also, I posted about my dealer trying to sell me a water seperator, and got replies that it was a waste of money. Maybe not so?

Water Separator

I'm getting service done on the Nissan 40 hp 2 cycle on my Mac19 and the dealer insists that he install a water separator filter on the boat to prevent future problems. He says he adds these to even small inflatable outboards. Problem is, I'm not sure where to put it on the boat where it won't prese...

Seems like there is a lot of dissension between 19 and 26 owners! Why don't we just get along and share our experiences. I believe only about 350 or so 19's were made as Roger realised how much more profit he could make with the 26. I'm still trying to get info on the rudder and motor tiller arrange...

Just got a Mac19

Hello Folks! I just picked up a 1994 Mac19 in great shape and was wondering if anyone might be able to help me with a few issues that have come up? I realize that there are almost no 19 owners in the group, but I'll give it a try: The boat was equipped with the motor (Nissan 40 hp) connected to the ...
