CPOST - If you are on the water enjoying your boat - whatever kind it is - then everything else is just talk. Enjoy the MAC - I enjoyed mine - but I probably had unrealistic expecations after learning to sail on a J24. As far as who has the "best" lake ; I'll defer that question to someone...

Must be the year. I owned an 05 26M for all of 4 months and had nothing but trouble. The boat was a giant piece of crap and a complete waste of money. Fortunately, someone was willing to buy it used from me and they apparently love it?? Gel coat was thin throughout the cockpit, small bubbles and hol...

1) The price is WAY too much. 2) Save your $$ and buy a traditional style sail-boat - trust me - you will not like the Mac. I owned a 2005 26M and had nothing but problems with it. The boat is tender and very slow. The construction quality is below poor. 3) If you are set on a trailerable boat - buy...

My two Cents -

I am a former newbie to sailing (still am) and bought a new 05 26M last year. I had been out on a sail boat 2x (J24) and was hooked. After much research, I purchased the Mac. I owned the Mac from January 05 to April 05 when I sold it. Someone made me an offer I couldn't refuse. I don't usually post ...

I had the same experience with my new 05' M. I have had the boat out 3-times so far this year and have only sailed with the Main to "learn" the boat and to keep things simple. (By the way - this is the most fun I have ever had on the water - first sailboat) This week, I decided to get the ...

Dik, the E-tec 50 is approx 12 1/4" at it's widest part. The top of the cowling is exactly 12" wide.

Quiet and has a nice sound. The literature on the E-Tec indicates that the noise level is comparable to the 4-strokes but has a "signature" sound that is somewhat more pleasing. Matter of opinion I guess.

I have a 50 HP E-Tec - nice and narrow - getting in and out of the rear of my M is still a squeeze - but from what I researched the E-tec is one of the smaller sized 50's.. If you go with a 50 - I can't imagine going with anything other than the E-Tec.

kmclemore: exactly - just trying to figure out what the optimal size would be, from Dan B - sounds like the 5/32" are just a shy small.
