Re: Bear Hunt 1st YouTube Video
Do they have a drone that can crash in saltwater and not be ruined? Ix That kind of thing exists, but it's expensive. The DJI Mavic Mini was $400 CDN at Costco, and we just land it on the dodger. You can't actually reach out and grab it as its hovering as it will automatically avoid your hand, keep...

Oh noes.
I'm not familiar with your surgery, but prayers you recover well. No PJs. So a hospital gown?
On a positive note; JimmyT got yis labs two weeks ago and is cancer-free still. Yay!

Re: Anchoring deck light
Nice. I did almost the exact same thing for my anchor/steaming light toggle.C Buchs wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2024 8:08 am I mounted one of these lights https://a.co/d/2LKOnjx with steaming and deck light in one fixture.
I used ONE switch labeled "mast light" and another to reverse the polarity.

Re: Anchoring deck light
Nice work.
How do you switch between steaming light and deck light?
Something I'm going to add to the boat is a head lamp for such situations where I need light on a subject and have my hands full.

Re: MacGregor Sailing Accident - Safety Reminder
I think its easy to see from the video that he was really filming not to show the boat in its usual comfortable sea cruising state but to show that it wasnt so lightly built it would fall apart in any but the lightest condition.i cant imagine anyone would watch that video and think i should buy thi...

Re: A New Journey Begins for OverEasy - 2023/2024
This thread may not be boating related, but still informative for us DIYers. When we built our house, I did a LOT of research. Not as much research as you obviously, but we worked with our plumber to install reliable and useable hot water. In our case we installed a standard electric water heater an...

Re: A New Journey Begins for OverEasy - 2023/2024
One of the things that this project has done has gotten me thinking about how I could possibly adapt this to a hydronic heating system for our boat for early and late season cruising. This would keep any fuel combustion safely outside of the cabin. It would free us from needing shore power or gener...

Re: MacGregor Sailing Accident - Safety Reminder
Also; wasn’t there another X which turned turtle mentioned on here a number of years ago? A woman owned it, and she had let some other family use the boat prior, and she wasn’t sure if they left the ballast in? She saw water in the cabin, the boat rolled over and swamped. Ix I can't find the post, ...

Some impressive plumbing there. Interesting the change from copper to pex. I see a lot of sharkbite connections. That really makes DIY easier.
So that tall "tank" is the boiler? I've never seen that type of system.

Re: MacGregor Sailing Accident - Safety Reminder
I saw that. Tragic. These boats have an outstanding safety record. Of course when these things happen there is always conjecture. What stood out to me was 6 people onboard in bad weather. The boat was laying on its side which seems odd to me. If the ballast were full, I wouldn't expect the boat to l...
