Re: A New Journey Begins for OverEasy - 2023/2024

Sounds like you are a real planner.
That's a good way to do it. Measure twice, cut once.

Are you ever planning on installing the mast?

Re: Whitecaps At Midnight, Second Night On Our 26X

A line off the stern would not keep you from dragging and if the wind or current reversed it would have the waves hitting the rear of the boat. The primary advantage to a stern anchor is to stop the boat from "sailing at anchor" or sometimes to help hold the boat into the waves when wind ...

Re: 2025 Mid-Atlantic MacGregor Mid-Winter "Gathering of the Faithful"

This seems like such a fun gathering.

I would so much love to attend, however, my life is too busy right now.

For those attending....post pictures and updates.

Re: A New Journey Begins for OverEasy - 2023/2024

We have sold many homes over the years. One of the biggest inspection items is the furnace. I maintain my own furnace. It's not hard to do. Vacuum and clean and replace sensors. One inspector said "I've never seen such a clean furnace". *pats self on shoulder*. That's right. I clean it eve...

Interesting. So is that the Tattoo 22 hull mold? Kind of looks like it.

The last post on the Tattoo 22 was TEN YEARS AGO!

Re: Whitecaps At Midnight, Second Night On Our 26X

Our '96 26X has the original layout with the 3 switch panel between the front windows. Bow, stern, mast and two interior light runs all terminate there with one run coming back to the battery compartment through the bilge under the galley. Intending to put the new panel right where yours is, so ext...

50 POUNDS? And I thought my 22lb claw was excessive. I bet you sleep well though.

Do you have insurance on the boat/trailer? Might cover replacement.

Re: Whitecaps At Midnight, Second Night On Our 26X

You have some detective work to do there. I assume the lithium packs are temporary and you will be installing a proper house battery. The previous owner did some janky stuff to sell the boat. eg: Connecting BOTH 1/2/All wires to the starter battery. I would NOT trust that little solar controller to ...

Re: MacGregor 26M trailer specs question

Wow! Why would someone steal a trailer? Towing an empty is not fun either.

Mine is all covered for the winter or I'd go out there and measure.

Supersail marine sells a nice trailer.

Re: Whitecaps At Midnight, Second Night On Our 26X

Ahh.... from the photo is appears there was once another "house" battery next to the motor starter battery. Hence the 1/2/All switch. I'm totally confused from your video how the "house" loads are connected. It looks similar to my solar controller where it has an extra set of con...

Re: Whitecaps At Midnight, Second Night On Our 26X

Nice trip out. Seems like you learn much from it. Blue Water Yachts will have a new furler luff kit https://shop.bwyachts.com/product-p/3602-110.htm That electrical setup needs some TLC. A proper switch panel would be nice rather than just a fuse block. What is connected to your outboard? I don't kn...

Good point. Would be a long row across the ocean.

Happy Thanksgiving and thanks to all who make this site what it is.

Re: MacGregor Sailing Accident - Safety Reminder

Very interesting. I never knew the earlier 26X filled from the bottom. Roger must have figured out that it's possible to drain the ballast while under power via the transom. This configuration seems to be how the earlier 26S/D models operated and he kept that system. Now I wonder if it's possible to...
