Re: urgent: storage of stuff and saltwater

Look in the mods section. BTW, there are tons of mods listed with some great idea.

Re: replacing single rope clutch with double---how do you access bolts in head cabin top?

The M has a "mirror" access panel below. Also zillions of hole "plugs" in the headliner.
Looking at your pic, I wonder if you could remove the compass for access?

Nice idea to keep the pins attached.

No doubt a record low purchase at West.

Re: Aft berth, stowage, ventilation

P.S. if you notice that the port is open, I did it so the kid would have some air. There are exceptions to every rule. Also the location of the opening porthole is above the gunwale. A safer location to install an opening porthole yet should still be closed when underway. Sad story of one installed...

That looks like a really fun event. Please document the "race" as you go here.

Re: New to MaGregor Sailing and Question

If it's original, my guess is that the main has stretched. Mine is 15 years old and has stretched.

One temporary solution might be to install a topping lift to keep the boom high and away from getting in the way.

Re: Anchor setup

Ah...splicing. My dad tried to teach me how to do it with 3 stranded line. He made it look easy. I never could get it right. I still have some dock lines he spliced eyes into. I buy dock lines already made. I don't know how to do braided. I'd love to learn how to "back splice". I usually b...

Re: Anchor setup

I've heard it said that if it fits in the Mac anchor locker, it's too small. I have a 22lb claw anchor that stays on the bow roller nicely. The claw anchor has worked nicely. It may be overkill, but I prefer too much rather than wish I had it. I do have a smaller fluke anchor as a backup in the anch...

Re: Upper shroud and forestay attachment

What is "normal" is what is pictured in the photo you attached. At least that's what I have. I don't know how to remove those "tabs" without re-swagging the fittings. Without them, the shrouds would be too short. Therefore yours might have been made custom or before Roger added t...

Re: Anchor setup

First, that's a nice shiny anchor. :)

I've been known to pry links open to make stuff fit. I'm not sure how that affects strength.

As mentioned above, the deck hardware is probably weaker than that 1/4 shackle.

You don't mention anything about a barrier coat.Is there anything about a barrier coat offering better resistance?

Sorry Ray, you will have to look at the date of the original post for the answer.
