Re: Tips for anchoring a 26X
Tlutz0808, Having an :macm: , I can’t speak about an :macx: . However, when you state “just a danforth style anchor with a bit of chain and rope.", that I can speak on. 30’ of chains is the target. Mac’s will swing at anchor, I hear a bridle helps, but Mac’s swing on anchor. Very high freeboard...

Re: Solo Docking
Wow! That is a difficult system to single hand a docking. I like the idea of the blue “cheater line" to make docking easier, but Mac’s have a very high freeboard, so while docking, they blow sideways on windy days. The cheater liner can help. So will good size fenders. Maybe placed horizontal o...

When you say “Bahama Trip”, I believe you just brought in a different ball game. Will a twenty HP be the correct choice for crossing the Gulph Stream in potentially less than perfect conditions?

Re: Shop Vac for down below?
I just don’t think units that powerful and large are needed below deck. I use this rechargeable Shark, it’s all that I need. It empties quickly and has more than adequate suction. https://i.postimg.cc/5XVgjVd5/IMG-7321.jpg Now we don’t anchor away from a power source; when we go on extended cruises,...

I’m a big believer in West Marine opinions. Here are others. https://buyersguide.org/boat-anchor-for-22-foot/t/best?m=e&d=m&c=745712506479&p=&oid=kwd-2412803544361&lp=9007277&li=&nw=g&nts=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwvO7CBhAqEiwA9q2YJbKrw2vXpEKJnwb5YEnMbXVdz3eV5t32T9JY6LM8RJw1...

Re: Inflatable Belt Pack PFD ok with coast guard?
The self inflating PFD I have will right an unconscious person to face up position. I tried it once to see if it really works. It cost me $25 for a new set of compressed air cylinder and a new dissolving ring, but it was worth it for the confidence it gave me. Good idea. I have a refill kit. Maybe ...

Re: Inflatable Belt Pack PFD ok with coast guard?
After inflation, you need to place the inflated PFD over your head. If you are inebriated, injured, or disabled, this increases the probability you are going to drown. A vest is still a better option. I have self inflated vests onboard that are extremely comfortable and must be worn, or you are off ...
