Full throttle at short spurts is fine. When I was having 40 & 50 miles between marinas, I kept the speed to 7 ~ 7.5 knots. If I got bored, I would run crease to 8.7 knots for awhile, then back to 7.5.

Kurz, When looking at the schematics, I don’t see any indication of sand. Diametrically opposite is storage space. Open the covers that expose storage in the bilge. There it’s not enough room to be of any significance. You definitely don’t want to have any pressure placed on the ballast tank.
