As you are aware, heat rises. Locate higher instead of lower.

Re: Troubleshooting a rounding-up problem
You did not mention the thickness of the screws. Unless I’m imagining things, the expensive one looks to be significantly thicker. I have to believe that increases holding power. I’m not an engineer, but that is my thought. I’m ready to be lambasted by those who know better.

Re: Cabin window conversion to vent?
What Over Easy states about keeping open ports and hatches closed is absolutely true. I ordered the ports from my dealer when we originally bought Nice Aft in 2004. In twenty years we have never had water ingress; even when we forgot to close them before being underway. That includes the time we for...

Re: Cabin window conversion to vent?
On my :macm: I have opening vents, port and starboard. I did not remove any windows. https://i.postimg.cc/bGVt6139/IMG-0963.jpg The port one is above the sliding galley. The starboard one is directly opposite. https://i.postimg.cc/5j4wxNFz/IMG-1509.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/q6vnQjdw/IMG-3670.jpg I ha...

Or, you can replace it, and carry a spare to be kept below with all of the other duplicate stuff.

Re: 26 Plimsoll-Load Lines
I believe the long black line indicating the water line is what you are describing as a Plimsoll line. Are you sure that is the correct nomenclature :?: https://www.researchgate.net/figure/The-plimsoll-line-Source_fig18_313506430 I just call it the waterline  :D Can’t you just paint it pink, o...

Re: How long to rig and de-rig D, X or M?
Don't feel bad. It took me a couple of years to realize it was inefficient to take the MRS and the baby stays off. BTW: with the baby stays attached you can roll the mast all the way to the stern and they will hold it there on the support if you need to untangle something (like the backstay wrapped...

Re: How well do MacGregors sail compared to other 22-27 ft keelboats?
If you are looking to race, then do not purchase an :macx: or :macm: If you are looking to sail for love of sailing, then the above choices are good. There are compromises with our boats. We do not sail as well as keel boats. We do not power as well as power boats. The fact that Rodger MacGregor sol...

Re: How long to rig and de-rig D, X or M?
I've been sailing for a long time and have experience rigging and deriving boats. Concsidering a D, X or M? Curious how long these take to rig and de-rig? Thank you, Doug I remove the main and boom but leave the MRS and baby stays attached when I de-rig. I have a hank-on jib. My lifelines are rigge...

Re: How long to rig and de-rig D, X or M?
I put pins in all the locations that used to have bolts, learned what gets tangled & twisted, and the right order to do everything. From arrival to the boat in the slip, I can do it myself in 45 minutes. Faster with help, but not a lot faster. Jeff You have an “X”. There really isn’t a comparis...

Re: How long to rig and de-rig D, X or M?
I am impressed with what Eric did, but I really don’t think it applies significantly to the “M”. For one, the “M” mast is much longer, heavier. The support for it is at the stern, not midship. The leverage is different. I once tried leaving the boom on when I lowered the mast; the pressure on it cra...

Re: How long to rig and de-rig D, X or M?
You can’t compare the time to raise the “X” mast to raising the “M” mast because the “M” mast is significantly heavier. One person can raise the “X” mast by their self, without any mast raising system; it is that much lighter than the “M’s”. Over forty years in the furniture delivery business, and I...
