Re: Aft berth, stowage, ventilation

A boat owner while enjoying the boating lifestyle, should always be conscientious to common sense and safety.

In my case, I was totally aware of that little boy, that open port, and the water I was on (Lake George).

Re: Aft berth, stowage, ventilation

Highlander has similar ports on his Mac. I don’t regret installing them, and encourage anyone interested to do it. The open ports keep air flow while at a dock. The open ports keep air flowing while wrapped for the winter. They also allow a great view when dining below. My grandson wanted to go belo...

Re: Aft berth, stowage, ventilation

You laugh :? I make it a point to keep them closed while sailing. Once, I forgot. :( We were intentionally heeling in in excess of forty-five degrees (much fun if one does not mind the cabin mess) when I remembered I forgot to close those ports. I excitedly told my wife to go below and close them. A...

Re: Aft berth, stowage, ventilation

In twenty years we have never had a mold problem. The Delaware alley can get rather humid in the summer. I have attributed the lack of mold to the two opening ports I had installed early on. The ports are port and starboard, just in front of the large aft berth, which we use when cruising. https://i...

Re: Motor choice

Well, my re-power is complete. After much research and discussions with BWY, my marina, and he folks re-powering the boat (Suzuki dealer), I went with the Suzuki DF60AV four-stroke with a 14x9 prop, replacing our old Nissan 50D two-stroke. We tested a wide range of props on the boat, and the 14x9 o...

Re: New Option for Portable Boat Air Conditioning!

I don’t quesrion its efficiency in a very small room, but I do when it comes to our Mac’s. Our boats are not very well insulated. :D The outside heat is just brutally, constantly baking on the hull. If you have a blue Mac, I imagine it’s worse. It may help reduce humidity though. We were driven from...

Whatever beliefs some may have, it is not this forum’s place to knock or demean them. Just saying.

Re: Upper shroud and forestay attachment

:D Thanks.

That’s what we have to deal with.

Now, on a tangent; I see where you you are, or at least where the boat is. We will be taking a cruise out of Haver de Grace this June. Is there a chance to meet for dinner? We try to meet members of this site when we travel.

Re: Upper shroud and forestay attachment

That is totally wrong setup. The uppers need to be on the back side of the mast (swept back spreaders right??) Those tabs are held on by the bolt going through the mast and angle to the rear of mast. The forestay attaches to the mast hound facing forwards. Having some kind of swivel joint is a good...

We had 90% coverage in Philly. Not the spectacle of totality, but always fascinating to watch.

CNN posted this image a lucky photographer captured.

Go over it quickly with a quick, one step wax like Turtle Wax. You will have the protection of the Polymer wax, and the shine you are looking for. Not the way you wanted, but you will have a nice shiny boat.

Re: New anchor needed

I can definitely understand not wanting to be on the water when more than an 8 lb (3.6kg) anchor is needed, but what if you are :?: I would think that being somewhat prepared with a second anchor for those unexpected moments is important.
