Tips for keeping it cool below deck
I'd be interested to hear any old and new tips for keeping it cool below deck, while out on the water under sail or anchored in a cove.

Cleaning factory gray cockpit cushions of stains
Hey Sailors!
Hope all are having a wonderful summer so far.
Say, anyone with the factory (I believe) gray cockpit cushions figure out a solution that will clean them really well? I somehow have rust stains, and ground in dead bug stains that I'm wanting to lose.

Blue Bear Mac, from Texas, anyone know this boat?
This boat has been setting for a few years now near where I live in a vacant lot. Shame to see it rotting away. Anyone heard of it?

Top speed w/ full ballast
After my carb rebuild last year I'm getting about 12-13mph w/ a full ballast, and about 18-19mph empty. Is this pretty good w/ a 50hp Yamaha 4-stroke?

Bleach & soap for cleaning deck & hull?
Happy summer! Found bleach & soap to bring the white out on my deck, and remove the mildew that seems to grow overnight. Any downsides? Also, it hasn't seemed to lick the black streaks that run down the side. Any recommendations for those?

Thanks everyone! So bathroom mold and mildew remover. Do you use the type with bleach? That stuff is pretty strong, so I could see how it would do the trick.

Mold/Mildew on underside of front hatch and companion way..
Hello everyone! Hope we're all getting our Macs in the water. I'm working on my baby here in Nashville, TN now. My question is this, every since I purchased my Mac (back in 2001), the underside of the companionway hatch (that slides) and the underside of the front hatch grows mildew. I understand wh...

Re: Custom Boat Cover
Is that simply one solid piece of pvc from one stanchion to the other, that would be too easy! :) This is not my boat, but I got this from somewhere on this site and this is what I'm gonna do this year. Bend the PVC pipe into an upside down U and attach them to the stanchions. It looks like a great ...

Re: Custom Boat Cover
The PVC ribbed idea is what I think I'm going to go for this year, unless I can find some similar creation at Harbor Freight. Seems like I've seen inexpensive frames that use tarps for the cover there.

Boat Cover Suggestions?
I want to invest some time and money into a cover for my '99 Mac X. Tired of the gunk, and the Harbor Freight tarp just isn't cuttin' it. Any suggestions?

Re: She's Here!
Congrats on the new Mac! Post some pics. I still get compliments on my Mac, a '99, but typically NOT from the sailing purists at the sailboat marina.
