Re: New main sail purchase
Finally got to sail in small craft advisory weather with the new sails. Awesome! No scary violent healing and round up. Was able to furel the 135 Genoa with the luff line and use the jib blocks. Worked as designed. Kept the shape and improved the point. Have not tuned the luff line yet. Double reefe...

Re: "Sub $600 Autopilot" Progress
Got busy in life and didn't have time to finish it up for production. Figured nobody would pay cost near double the $600.

Re: Troubleshooting a rounding-up problem
Got rid of round up by bottoming out the forestay then tuning our rig. That's a bit vague. I assume you man shortened your forestay as much as possible. Mine is as short as it can be, and it is VERY difficult to attach, meaning there's no way of shortening it more. As for tuning, that's what we've ...

Re: Motor choice
Real planing is around 20 MPH for an X.
Won't do that with a 60 HP motor.
The more rounded hull on the M requires a little more speed for planing.

Re: New anchor needed
The aluminum fortress anchors are not to be trusted. We've been caught in bad weather many times and they don't hold. Keep one in the locker for quick deployment. Would never trust to hold while we are sleeping. For real security we use the Lewmar Claw Anchor (16.5 lbs). Drop it in and forget about ...

Re: Boomkicker vs Garhauer Rigid Boom Vang
We've used the Garhauer Rigid Boom Vang since day one purchase in 2005. Would not sail without it.
Highly recommend.

We added shore power and upgraded the DC panel a long time ago.
100% worth the trouble.

Re: Winter Projects 2023-2024 -- Post Yours
Pro tip: Spray all connection with CRC battery terminal spray (red). The spray will capillary into the wires. After sitting the spay is very sticky like grease deep inside so it does not wash away. Zero issues since 2005. Including spade connections that got soaked in the bilge. Done this many times...

Re: Prospective X Purchaser
Can anyone give me a ballpark knot reading on this boat’s probable SOG running a Yamaha 50 iron jib - 17°pitch propeller- at WOT and likely fuel flow at that throttle angle? With and / or without full ballast? Also, what kind of unassisted, strictly sailing speeds am I likely to see with correctly ...
