Re: Swing keel bolt and cable
So rainer, how did you access the two ends of the pivot pin inside the boat? (The pivot pin doesn't go up into place from the outside of the boat, right?) Do you have pics of the inside? Viz, here is the picture as requested but I´m afraid it won´t help You http://i325.photobucket.com/albums/k376/2...

Re: Swing keel bolt and cable
Some owners have tried to tighten the pin/board fit by reglassing the hole, some have installed a bronze bushing, etc. in a mistaken attempt to make the pin a precise fit thru the board. If the pin and board fit were to be close, two things would happen: The hole in the board would be ground up by ...

Re: Head Relocation - Mac Classic
My thought is that you would be going from a bad situation to a worst one. I'd take some cardboard and mock it up and then spend time in the cabin with 4 people and see where they are going to sit and how you are going to prepare meals and how they are going to get into and out of the aft berth whi...

Sealing an old Rub Rail
My rubrail is still looking good, almost no scratches on it . As I have water in the bilge too (I´m aware of all the other sources for bilgewater) I´m thinking about just sealing the gap between the rubrail and deck from above with some kind of sealant as seen in the following scetch: http://i325.ph...

Re: Replacing rub rail question???
If you do have a deck to hull leak it was because manifacture didn't seal it properly of you had a hard bump at the pileing and broke the seal. Dave Dave, thank You for the answer. I´m aware of all (?) the sources for bilgewater and did something against them. As I´m not sure that I always have avo...

Re: Replacing rub rail question???
One question just in the blind: My rubrail is still looking good, almost no scratches on it . As I have water in the bilge too I´m thinking about just sealing the gap between the rubrail and deck from above with some kind of sealant. I´m wondering if anybody has done this before, which result? Rainer

Re: solar panel ratings
2BonC, what kind of panel did you find? It looks like one of the semi-flexible ones with a fiberglass substrate; something like, but not quite identical to, the Aurinco panels. How big is it, how much power does it afford you, where did you get it? Hi Rick, I think Your absolutely right, the main p...

Re: ..could come out much more worse...
Perhaps not as funny in another country...sorry... Over here, when you're having a lucky day, or feeling rather lucky, there is a saying that it would be a good time to go buy a ticket to the lucky draw or lottery because if you're being lucky, you'd win. I didn't realize that it might not translat...

..I was a victim, that what it looked like: http://i325.photobucket.com/albums/k376/2bonc/Autosteer-defect-1.jpg I lost my friend when I was sailing single handed on the Baltic Sea. :( It took me about one year to get my substitude. I changed to the SPX Wheel Pilot. Here are both installations. http...

..could come out much more worse...
..not sure to post in the correct forum, but anyhow, think the little story is worth reading.. This is my :macx: placed there after the summer season at August 31st at it´s standard rest position (as long it´s not in the water): http://i325.photobucket.com/albums/k376/2bonc/Persenning.jpg On Septemb...

Re: Trailer Mod Complete
..just another improvement for the use of a Mac-trailer... Sometimes during the lauch or storing of the boat I was forced to move to the top of the bow of my :macx: . As long as the mast and spreaders are still in their storing position it´s quite incomfotable to walk there all the way from the rear...

Re: Smart Rails installed!
Keeping it on a straight line, under the boot stripe works great and doesn't affect sailing. Here's a pic of the Smart Rail at work; This is mid starboard rail looking forward @ 18kts. With the 50hp-Suzuki my :macx: is making just 12 kts :( Do You think with Smart Rails it will go 18kts as well? :D...
