Hehe, language mix-ups are never too serious to joke about. Here in Norway, spring is the air. Maybe next weekend, I will put the daycruiser back on the water and start to advertise. The amount of boats for sale are increasing now, but not so many MacGregors yet... One question I'd like to pop here...

The load is (probably) the same for X and M and only depending on sail/wind condition - no problem with no the backstay

You are right, it says "Do Not Lubricate". Just to see what happens if: Having received two new winches I used the old ones for an experiment. I lubricated one with silicone oil and the other with mineral oil - didn't help at all. Also tried sanding the inner surfaces with fine abrasive paper but co...

I had the same problem last year on my 2010 , and after contacting Forespar they sent new winches. They had had some quality problems with winches manufactured in 2010.

Have you seen the MacGregor map on this site? Put your boat on the map! Just now I can only see seven Macs on this side of the Atlantic. There must be more

Don't panic! It can hardly be worse than driving on a winter road with snow and salt spray. Most cars survive this treatment in northern Europe. So why shouldn't the trailer do it?

Two replacement winches arrived today from Forespar! For free! That really exceeded my expectation.

Good advice Catigale. I will probably get new Lewmars but first I'll see if I can get these to work. Some 400 grit wet sanding paper on the brasss surface might do the trick - or completely ruin them and then I'll have no choice

Dealer offered 12 months warranty on the boat (now 14 months old ). No help from them. The winches came with the boat. Forespar gives 36 months warranty. I might have to go directly to them.

Our original sheet winches - Forespar #6 Marelon - are not working any longer. They can only be rotated with great effort and gripping them with a pipe wrench. I have had them dissassembled, cleaned and lubricated and still no success. Last year, when they were new, you could easily rotate them with...
