Re: New Owner / Member With Questions

Congratulations on the boat. I think at that price you got a great deal especially if it came with a trailer. My 2007 came with a dual axle trailer and I paid just over 18. I often think that I could probably get that for it today 4 years later because these boats hold their value so well. Congrats ...

Re: Pics of companionway conditioning mod?

Here is what I did pretty straightforward. Used the factory hatch as a starter template then cardboard cutout to ensure the AC slot was accurately placed. https://i.postimg.cc/1npbKM4X/6-F413032-3-A3-C-456-B-AFF7-45422-DCC29-D6.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/NLt0vz6N/759-C6-F9-B-1-F64-44-A4-A280-71647-ED6...

Re: Shore power AC 120v install + more

This panel said that the inlet had to be within a few feet So this seems like the logical place. It did work out pretty good because that cabinet area is empty once you take out the foam you actually have quite a bit of room to work with. There is great storage in that space. I took the foam out an...

Re: Some help with a 17

I haven’t seen the Venture 17 discussed much since I joined the forum so I went and did a search for older posts. I don’t know how to link it so I copied it. It was posted fro user argonaut in 2004 and has a few comments. Maybe one of the admins can chime in On how to link The search function is dec...

Re: Pics of companionway conditioning mod?

I just did a similar set up to what Jimmy posted. You can actually offset the AC quite a bit to one side or the other and still have enough of a space for your companion way hatch to have structure on each side after the hole is cut out. The key is when you go find an air conditioner to try and find...

Re: Shore power AC 120v install + more

Nice work. I like where you installed the shore power connector. I don't understand why so many boat builders locate it far aft (eg: cockpit). Most sailboats dock bow first into slips. In previous boats I've had to run the shore power from the dock all along the deck to reach the connector. That le...

Re: Lewmar winch maintenance

Greetings, I have got to perform some long overdue maintenance on all four of my winches. There is a great video on YouTube that covers the teardown of a Lewmar 6 but it has no sound. It looks like it was filmed on a Mac. Does anyone have a link to on online guide or video that covers our particula...

#3 I believe is a homade boomkicker or ridged vang depending on what side of the pond
Ditto on this one.
I think it is a homemade strut to hold the boom up when at anchor or in a slip. Appears to use same bracket as the boom kicker bracket mine has.

Shore power AC 120v install + more

I will put the shore power in mods with a few more pics but wanted to mention it here. Thank you to all the knowledge and upgrades shared here on this forum which gave me the courage to put about 11 holes in my boat (2 from the outside)! This is the first time I have really employed CAD in my projec...

Re: Dowl in the spreader? Good or bad idea?

I like this mod, easy, cheap, adds a factor of safety, and I am gonna do it. Thanks for the idea. I think I will fill the hollow PVC core with blown foam: that will add more rigidity and very little extra weight. I have a can of that as well. Think I will do the same. I feel a little better about d...

Re: Dowl in the spreader? Good or bad idea?

I replace the spreader bolts with hitch pins years ago I use marine bungie cord to secure to the mast when I trailer. One the mast in resting on the arch I pull the pins and secure to the mast with the bungie then walk the mast forward and attach the foot to the pulpit. Haven't bent a spreader sinc...

It turns out a half inch PVC fits in there perfectly.

Re: Dowl in the spreader? Good or bad idea

Todd, You did not say how you bent your spreaders. In fifteen years of owning Nice Aft, I have bent the spreaders twice. After the second time, I didn’t just purchase a new one, I purchased two, just in case. I have never had to use it. I should have done that the first time, then there would not h...
