Dowl in the spreader? Good or bad idea?
I have bent my spreader twice and want to reinforce it. I have adapted how I trailer so I don't expect to bend the stock spreader anymore however I want to mount halyards for flags and I also want it to be strong because they seem to be a weak link in the rigging. Is it a bad idea to put a dowel ins...

Re: The "Trips I would have taken in 2020" Thread
I was hoping to get up to Blue Mesa reservoir in Colorado and spend a few days relaxing at the lake. It is the lake where I first sailed as a kid with my Grandfather's in his Mac in the early 80`s.

Re: 26M steering - is this gasket original?
I wouldn't be hasty to get rid of this boot assembly. This is a common leak point for Macs and many owners have added similar seals to help reduce the shipped water. Might be best to simply see why it's binding and correct that, than to replace the boot. That is good input. If it isn't the boot bin...

Re: Sliding galley
I just pulled the hose from my sliding galley all the way to the back because it was blocked from sand and dirt. Unfortunately I had to cut it away from the connections because it was sealed on with some type of sealant I don’t recognize. Kind of like a cross between foam and silicone and a little s...

Re: What goes here? What is this for?
Another issue, this bracket it VERY VERY wobbly, I assume the pop rivets are loose, and an wondering if I should use HIGH STRENGTH aluminum or stainless steel? All 4 rivets are wobbling around, about 1/2" play at least. Mine has a stainless self tapping screw and a stainless pop-rivet. You probably...

Thanks everyone. That helps. I will pull it this weekend. Hoping the hole wasn’t bored out.

26M steering - is this gasket original?
My question is based on the picture below. I am trying to figure out what the original set up was on these boats for the steering coming out of the hole in the fiberglass. Do other owners of the 26M have that same style gasket that is shown in the picture? Or is it bare with just the steering rode p...

Looks like the thread in the pub front room disappeared so I thought I would put the link to the T-shirt company we were discussing in this thread in case anyone in the future wants to know where to get then. The link is https://maritimetees.net/

Re: Sliding Hatch gap (companionway)
You could do an external canvas cover that Velcro - attached over the hatch gap. Or, you could add an interior gasket out of foam rubber or pipe insulation - similar to what BOAT is suggesting - only more complicated (as is my tendency). https://i.postimg.cc/FsZTcBNn/C2-FBFF10-9646-478-C-9496-A4518...

Re: COVID-19 just got real
I'm wondering what folks are thinking about this coming boating season. Are marinas operating in your area? How about fuel docks? Anyone moving forward with plans for major trips? Covid 19 seems to be a real wild card. What strange times. All New Mexico state parks are closed until April 9. All of ...
