Re: is this forum for "trailers & towing" only or can we talk about tow vehicles?

Thank you both. I am still analyzing. The flat tow capability is huge for flexibility between being the “Tow-er” and the “Toad”. The truck is pretty stable with the :macm: behind it. Sounds like both of you logged some serious miles so I am more comfortable judging that towed behavior won’t be an is...

Re: is this forum for "trailers & towing" only or can we talk about tow vehicles?

Resurrecting an old thread on vehicles with a Tow-Beast report on our new Pathfinder...it's been a year and several road trips. The Pathfinder is far from being a beast, or a truck, but for us it is the perfect tow vehicle: 7 passengers 2-wheel drive for highway All-wheel drive for launching 4-whee...

Re: is this forum for "trailers & towing" only or can we talk about tow vehicles?

BOAT I am looking at 2015-ish Grand Cherokees right now. Would you recommend? Looking at ditching my truck (F-150) which goes against all my rules regarding always owning a truck. I get horrible MPG with the truck towing (8 MPG). Realized a Grand Cherokee at 5000 lbs can be flat-towed behind the RV,...

Re: We’re Gettin’ the Band Back Together!!

thanks to Russ for changing my User name to Todd; I have been a minimal poster/mostly reader of mods over the past few years. I'd rather be on a first name basis with this group. Happy to see the site back up and running as I have a lot of projects due in the spring. I thought I would reintroduce my...

Re: Where is everyone?

It’s not you. It’s me. Ever since I started working weekends and with my kid in school I have not been able to get to the lake. My boat has not touched water for over a year. I’m just waiting for Ris To write a book about how to do a the great loop in a Mac so that I can read the book and have some ...

Ris, when you are trawlering around in the water do you still fill the ballast?

Re: What will you miss most about your Mac when you size up to another boat?

without a doubt two things: I can tow it behind my F-150 with ease including beach launching with my 98 Wrangler. I can store it between my house and wall on the side where a boat shouldn't be. The Gas meter guy said-- "no problem" we can read your meter no matter what. :D

Re: Trenton Ontario and Trent Severn Waterway

Ris, how are you dealing with the Canadian laws regarding cassette porta toilets vs marine heads set up with a pump out. The reason I ask is that I was talking to the Marina staff at a Ridgway State Park in Colorado and they only allow cassette/porta style toilets. So now I am thoroughly confused on...

Re: In-hull transducer

Thanks for posting this topic. I installed an hawkeye and it was not easy in the pedestal so was disappointed when I tried it out and failed. Of course I finally figured out I mounted the transducer over the ballast inside the hull on the :macm: . I also used epoxy so have to get a new transducer si...

Re: Blowing down the ballast

On the 26M you should have a 12v lighter plug up front. Those 12v pumps for blowing up water inflatables work perfect for blowing the ballast. However you still only get a portion out. I do not know which eliminates more water between blowing it out or using the siphon method from the manual where y...
