Re: How Robust are the MacGregor Rudders?
I have heard of folks breaking them, and certainly Blue Water and other folks have sold replacements, but in general they are pretty sturdy. Mine are the originals and have lasted just fine.

Was that “get out of jail” card for you if a certain female thought you got too close to miss Hawaii :?: :) Ha! No, but she was a great student. She graduated a year ago from PSU with a degree in engineering. Bright kid. That day's accoutrements... https://i.postimg.cc/v81BMDPw/Halloween-2015-2.jpg

Uncle Pennybags, aka The Monopoly Man, never had a monocle. At least not as drawn (ever) by the manufacturer since it first came out. Indeed. Me with a student, Oct 2015. She was a Hawaii snow globe. (Glasses were necessary for me to survive, however!) https://i.postimg.cc/zv549Z92/Halloween-2015.j...

Re: Folding Cockpit Table
Well done - very handsome! And thanks for adding this to the Mods section, too! For new members, there’s also a “Mods” section of this site which catalogs tons of modifications that have been to Macs and Tattoos by their owners over many years. Have a look: https://www.macgregorsailors.com/mods/ Che...

Re: 26M steering - is this gasket original?
I wouldn't be hasty to get rid of this boot assembly. This is a common leak point for Macs and many owners have added similar seals to help reduce the shipped water. Might be best to simply see why it's binding and correct that, than to replace the boot.

Perhaps you can send Russ or me that info and we can get it posted here on the forum in the Resources section?

It would be really useful and a great place to share it. Thanks!

Re: COVID-19 just got real
It’s our son we worry about most - he’s an EMT in St. Mary’s Hospital’s trauma center in Langhorne. We talk to him by phone and he’s OK for now, but I imagine he will become exposed at some point, if not already. Prayers for your son's health. He's on the front lines and so valuable in his position...
