Re: Yep

...how does one do an effective job of rinsing off the brakes after being in salt water? I would like to dunk the wheels in fresh water after the salt water bath but that isn`t possible for me without traveling a long distance to do it. Well, flushing kits are available from a number of sources. He...

Thanks, BobCardz, that's very helpful info! Plumbing it to the already existing bilge pump is a good suggestion.. I'd have to override the float switch, but it would mean one less thru-hull.

Has anyone tried one of these Shower Sumps?

Hmm.. yes, well... we don't have a bimini either yet... that's also on the list, but awaiting a bigger budget allocation! Once she's out on the boat (and hopefully enjoys it) then I'll get her to go for spending more $$ on such things. At least that's the plan, anyway. But thanks for the sugg...

As that car's front wheel drive, and as all of the weight will be in the back due to both the boat's weight and the angle of the car on the ramp, I expect you'll go through a year's worth of tires in just spinning and smoke... shortly before the tires are cooled as they slip slowly into the water, o...

Yeah, Johan, that interior looks really great!

I'd love to add more wood to mine, but I'm still trying to find a supplier of teak and teak & holly plywood around the Philadelphia area - anybody got any ideas? Where do you all get your wood?

A Real shower?

Has anyone converted their head into a real shower (i.e. with a proper drain, pump and through-hull outlet)? If so, how did you do it? Were there any problems or tips you could pass on? And do you have any pics? I have a SunShower and that works fine out in the cockpit - and frankly were it up to me...

Yes, Dimitri, this is exactly what I've just done in a bathroom rennovation in my home... one GFCI and then the rest are chained from that one. Just be careful to use the proper gauge of wire, proper fuses and label the outlets with maximum load so that you don't create an accidental overload situat...

"My thinking was to have a cabin fire extinguisher for cockpit/engine fires, and cockpit extinguisher for cabin fires. In other words, if an engine/fuel tank fire did happen, I would go for the extinguisher mounted in the cabin." Good idea! Where did you get the nifty insert to hold the e...

Adding to the subject, I'd avoid the mouse altogether. Get yourself a touch-screen TFT, and they do make them even in marine versions. Do a search on Google for "TFT marine touch screen LCD" and you'll find a few. They ain't cheap but how are you gonna have a mouse in the cockpit? The only...

I strongly recommend the following book on the subject.... I'd dare to say it is the definitive manual on blistering of glassfibre, as well as the proper construction and repair of boats. I'm fortunate to know a bit about glassfibre, having worked for Lotus Cars, Ltd., for whom I did a considerable ...
