Re: Newbie notes - on the bowline

Or simply put a half hitch or stopper knot in the tag which is called a locked bowline, then it should not come undone cause it is locked 8)

Re: Spinnakers from Australia

I don't have one yet but am thinking of getting one for those 5 knot mild wind days. I was looking at getting www.sailsolutions.com.au to make up one with a sock. Rolly Tasker sails have a good world wide rep. I have to wait till the new year as boat dollars are Christmas bound :) Asym Spins size fo...

Re: Sudden onset rigging problem

Pretty certain a sampson post is like a mooring bollard used for towing on lager boats.

I argee with John they are compression posts or load-transfer posts in the cabin from a deck stepped mast.

Re: Gimbal Rod Holder (fishing)

Also bringing blood and slime onto the boat is not good as it brings all sorts of other problems (flies)
That's what the pedestal table and self draining cockpit are for, aren’t they. ½ a dozen buckets of seawater (slim and blood burly) and wait for the next run. :D

Mine is on two copper plates rivetted to the starboard outside rear above rudder near deck join and on the inside port side galley guide rail in the cabin.

Re: Brisbane/Gold Coast/QLD Owners Club

Normally the way I travel with a bit of wave action to keep dry. 2800 rpm about 6 knots about 13 litres one way. (only done this once in 2 m...

Re: Brisbane/Gold Coast/QLD Owners Club

Will you be sailing one way and powering the other?

Not if it's a Northerly, will motor out into bay and have a sail, like it should be Saturday the 20th with any luck..

If it's an Easterly yes will motor over then sail back. A loverly 15 knot afternoon ENE seabreeze would be perfect :)

You need a VHF with DSC but this transmits GPS position to the VHF.

Re: Do all new motor have emergency pull-start ?

Evinrude use to colour code motors Blue for fresh White for salt. With the introduction of the ETEC this did not happen as all motors below 90hp where blue until recently. Some of the older 2000 models apparently came out in fresh and saltwater editions. In the past saltwater editions had some stain...

Re: COST OF ELECTRICAL GEAR

Warranty, Freight, GST and Import duty all ad to the cost. $8 US postage is local US postage bet it's a lot more to OZ. If it is less than $25 US it will be coming surface mail 5-10 Weeks delivery. Air courier is normally about $90. $68.95 $25.00 $93.95 current exchange rate that's about $109 OZ. Do...
