I'm looking at mast up storage, at the sailing club near the boat ramp.
I read the details on Trailer Sailer Place of a GPS/GSM tracking device and I have the bits on order.
Details are here: http://www.trailersailerplace.com.au/ph ... f=2&t=6551
Cost less that $100 to set up and peanuts to operate. Draw is <80ma, so no problem there. Sim is very cheap also.
If a hatch is opened the inbuilt vibration sensor known and the unit sends me an SMS.
If the boat is stolen it sends me an SMS, and, it posts the GPS to a free tracking site in real time.
You can log onto the site and back the trace onto Google Earth.
So the call to the cops is like, "My boats been stolen and it is presently travelling East on Beach Road Batemans Bay at 48kph."
Third thing. The admiral can log on and see exactly where the boat is while I'm out cruising.
Theoretically that is, if I instruct her, which I probably might not do.
The concept is aimed at vehicle security, but will adapt to boating.
Cheap peace of mind, with the boat in a "public" boat park.
I will keep you advised of progress.
Tks
C ya.

I too have mast up storage at a yard, although very secure. This is not a bad idea, particualr we do have trailer sailers and will be on the road at some times.

Hi Clemo,
Looks a really useful. Be interested to see how it goes and may get one.
Also interested to have some details on the Yacht Club storage arrangement. I am getting a bit fed up with long hauls to the water and setup for a few hours sailing or finding the wind has changed when I get there.
