Key Bridge, Baltimore, Md. USA

Post by NiceAft »

For those wondering where exactly was that Key Bridge?

It travels over the entrance to the 9th busiest port in the U.S. Where the Key Bridge was, is the large blue circle. Nothing south of the bridge can enter. Nothing to the north of the bridge can exit.

The small blue circle is where we are scheduled to be from June 29 ~ July 2. That obviously is questionable.

The small purple circle is Fort McHenry; the subject of the Star Spangle Banner.

The blue circle is the marina where we are scheduled to have a transitory slip. That area has marinas, restaurants, museums, interesting stores and plenty of night life.

Well, Ray, you (and any other forum members) are always welcome to join us in NY… I can even loan you a slip at a nice marina. :)

(I know, I think we’ve had this conversation… ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ )

Thanks Kevin,

But I didn’t say we were not going. Plan B is probably Rock Hall instead of Baltimore.

Are you up at the lake now, in preparation for April 8 :?:

The impact of that bridge is tremendous. Certainly the priority is to open something to allow shipping.

What a mess.

I have been checking the latest information so as to know what I need to do. Not that they care about a tiny sailboat. Once the work begins to remove structure, it is estimated to take a month so as to allow shipping through.

It was also reported that rubble needs to be removed all the way down to the channel’s sand bed. The channel is 50’ (15.24m) deep, and some cargo ships only clear the bottom by 18” (.45m).
