a little confused about Rub Rail replacement method and sealing

Post by Chumpy36 »

I had my rub rail replaced late last year but I've noticed it's not very "stuck" on to the boat. Should adhesive been used when it was installed? Also, does one caulk the top edge where it meets the hull or not? I don't especially think I have a leak from there but I don't want one either.

Search on this was inconclusive.

Thanks

The photos all work if you just keep clicking on them till they finally show up.

Replacing the rub rail on a 26x ...

You do use adhesive.

Hi Rsvpasap!

Great instructions!

You might want to share them with Kurz as he is currently contemplating doing his rub rail viewtopic.php?t=30325

That way you can share your experiences and what you personally learned along the way.
It’s always nice to have some one to share with! :) :)

Best Regards,

I also just installed a new rub rail and painted the black around the windows and the other two stripes. It is listed under (Hope everyone is doing well have not been on lately). Needs to be listed as putting on rub rail and painting the two stripes. I stretched the rub rail for two days and used 5200 to glue it on also to caulk the top.
