You might want to search the archives if you are really interested. There are boats with beefed up transoms sporting over 100 hp and others who feel more than 25 hp is a waste. Most feel that the recommened 50 hp is about 25 hp lacking if you want to pull toys or get a moderately loaded boat up over its bow wave - also called getting on step. I have 50 hp, regularly go slow due to location or wind and waves, occassionally go fast but without chines or spray rails I get complaints from she who must be obeyed. I would in hind sight have gone with a light weight Suzki 75 but it would have been ego mostly - just knowing I can go fast - like driveing a corvette around Manhatten.

I believe the largest motor reported so far on a :macx: is TonyHouk's 115HP Evinrude, and that was a successful installation using reinforcements inside and outside the transom. I believe the only real issue was related to tilting the motor up, but otherwise the boat seems to have handled the extra power just fine.

Given that the :macm: is rated for a higher motor capacity, and that it has a narrower and therefore more rigid transom, IMHO it should be able to handle similar horsepower to the Odin.* And given that the Mac is considerably lighter (2550 lbs) than the Odin (3256 lbs), I would expect it to be substantially faster at any given comparable HP.

You forgot about this :macx: . . .

7 years, 600+ hrs., no stress cracks and still running strong (35 mph @ 3 mpg or 8mph @ 6+ mpg). Of course I used about 15 lbs. of aluminum plates.
And there's a M in Alaska(?) with a 140. Don't forget Mark who had a 115 Suzuki--that now resides in NC. So the Mac can handle the horsepower, the question is can you handle no warranty.

(With more horsepower comes more responsibility.)
