Switching up foresails

I've never taken the genny off. It's just too darned convenient.

But it would be nice to point higher than 55 degrees. My no-sail zone is 110 degrees wide.

Does anyone find that a jib hardened up on the cabin-top tracks gives noticeably better pointing than their genoa?

Absolutely. I only have a 130% genie (non furling), but it goes upwind similar to yours. Since all of my sailing is now on mountain reservoirs, I never even hank it on. I am back to the 100% working jib all of the time (it's also easier to tack). I always beat 45* and sometimes have been able to get up to 30* pointing. (though I seldom am willing to work that hard!).

Is there an easy way to figure out the size of the genoa that's on my X? Unfurled and pulled tight with the sheets outside of the shrouds, the clew ends around the last lifeline stanchion near the winch.

How far is that aft from the mast? Looks like that is about 50% of the length of the foot from tack to mast.
That would make it a 150(%).

I suspect you're right about it being a 150 but I thought it could be a 130. I honestly have not had the time to investigate, and with the boat coming out of the water tomorrow and going under a tarp until next May, I might not be able to unfurl the sail to accurately check until I put the mast up again next season.
