Clean/restore wood cover for stove

Post by dlandersson »

I'm getting ambitious. My wood cover for my stove hasn't been cleaned in 14+ years. It's a bit stained, etc.
Any recommendations on what to use? 8)

Step 1: 50/50 water and white vinegar, spray liberally and wipe excess off with microfiber. Let dry completely
Step 2: hydrogen peroxide, same deal liberal coat, wipe excess off and let dry completely
Step 3: kosher salt sprinkled liberally, cut a lemon in half and use each half to scrub the salt and juice into the board to attack the stains. Let it sit 15 minutes then rinse and let dry completely

All bacteria will be dead and gone, and any stains should be mostly gone if not completely. If the stains are still showing you can bust out the sandpaper coarse to fine until it looks how you want then…

Step 4: mineral oil and a microfiber, apply liberally and wipe away any excess
Should look new!
