Drip choke?

Post by Sloop John B »

Latest saga in trying to get my 2002 carbureted Yamaha T50 started.

Yamaha mechanic tells me to turn on the key for a minute or so and gas will seep through needle like holes into a couple of the cylinders. He adds that pushing the throttle forward and back simply blows air through the system. Prior mechanic advocated pushing the throttle back and forth. Good grief!

I think there is a board where guys knowledgeable about motors can be found. Anyone take note of their address? All the shops in these parts are badly backlogged.

By the way, ran into a gal that likes to sit and blink at me. In need of a first mate I suggest going sailing. She gets a Shelly Duvall expression on her face, the one when Jack Nicholson is banging down the door to the can with a fire axe. Will have to find a real tame day to try and break her in. Sort of skinny, put her on a halyard and the main might drop and she’d go up.

She's a "throw back" if she cant cook, is over 35, and wants to bring her 5-6 spoiled rotten kids along for a day of sailing. :o
Ive always heard "fat ones" are more dependable, but getting them in and out of the boat gets complicated :D
Happy Sailing Sloop.

Yup, there is a website that has a good section on motors.

www.iboats.com

Don't understand the women though. I think they all must get some training that says if a guy offers a boat ride, he must be Jack Nickleson with an axe.
Its just so wrong.

The best method I have ever had getting motorcycles or outboards or jetskis is too get one of the little primer pumps from Chapparal motorcycles or any jet ski shop.
They tap into the fuel line and the manifold or carb and squirt in about 10cc of gas. gets things started right quick

I have always been bad at reading women's "signals". Sadly, I am also familiar with that expression. I finally had to accept the fact that the young girls were only being friendly because I reminded them of their grandfather. :(
