Spring by behind
I heard on the radio it was spring so I decided to dig down thru the snow bank in my back yard where I was pretty sure I parked the boat and trailer before the white dust from h
ll started falling 26 months ago. I had some mods I wanted to do - now I have to add gel coat repair to the list for the shovel chips to its deck.
On the upside, of all the kids in the neighbourhood, I have the coolest snow fort!
Man I am looking forward to those 3 days of summer in July - if it doesn't rain!

You guys must be kidding! 2-3 days of fun. I'd probably go nuts and climb up a water tower.
I start stewing when a few weekends pass without sailing. But then .. I live in central florida and not much happens here ... in the way of snow that is!

I was really cold today . So I got my beer, shut the fridge and went out into the 75 degree sunshine.
Theres dolphin swimming about a 1/4 mile away, the fish are jumping trying to escape.
A Pelican just flew buy. The sails are up and its time to turn off the puter and head out.
Enjoy the snow.

No need for panic about the weather here yet. The Marinas here don't open until early May. The ice on Lake Erie is breaking up nicely. The winter off street parking ban ended in my town 2 days ago so now I can get my boat out of storage. My wife will lose the drive way for a month while I prep the boat (completing some of the great mods I've seen on this board) but I will be ready for our Marinas' opening day. The anticipation is actually a fun part for us northeners. The first few voyages are always exciting after 6 months off. While I hate taking the boat out of the water at the end of the year. it does keep me from getting tired of the sport. I had a Mac 25 for 6 yrs and sold it. It drove me crazy not having a boat for one summer, hence I bought a 26M last year. I just keep reminding myself the Summers here are why we put up with the winters and Sept and early Oct, sailing is best of all.

I lived in Alden for a couple of years in the 1980s...now Im in the FAR EAST (near Albany)
If you trailer up to Wilson NY you can launch on Ontario and sail to Toronto in a day - and also catch me on my Ericson 32 during the week - "working"
cheers from the Empire State

Hey Hey Hey, Chicago is finally snow free and they say this weekend it will get above 50, so now I can clean the garage, plant the garden, put out the spring clean up trash, and maybe I will think about removing the shrink from the boat - maybe, last year I was helping a coworker get his ericson 27 in the water already but not this year.

Catigale,
Do you still sail out of Wilson? That's a pretty long ride. I do plan on doing some Lake Ontario sailing this summer. There are more destinations to day sail to, than the Lake Erie/Buffalo area. Although I am getting a slip at the small boat harbour for the summer so I can use it more. I'll look you up when we go up there. The Wilson Boat House resturaunt is on our destination list. If it ever stops snowing ! (more forcast this weekend)

I share a Ericson 32 with a college friend which lies in Wilson. Slips are reasonable up there of course. You launch from the Tuscorora State Park (NYS park system) - if you are doing it a fair amount you should buy the Empire Pass which will save you money on the year.
Im 300 miles east in Albany, so bring the mac west once in a while.
