I sail an X out of Batemans Bay. There is another Mac in Moruya. We are both members of B.B.S.C. Yeah, I'd like to catch up with other Macs. I'm hoping to be on Lake Mac on the October long weekend. 'n my main contact is TSP. (Not that keen on racing unless we all agree to keep the fridge freezers & flat screen TV on board.) I better keep a weather eye on this site. C ya.

Because there is so many old TS's (over priced dinghies with lids) over here they find it hard to execpt their boats are passed their use by date so they go on the attack, soon they will change tack and begin to justify why they own such old boats (usually calling them classics) then they will accept the inevitable and up grade usually say the Admiral made me

Another point is, the space, the mast raising system, the enclosed head. Want me to go on?

Once the admiral or the little whipper snipper sees these things in the Mac, the comment is: I want one.
In the short time I have had the boat, I have had numerous comments like that.
What is the saying: Jealousy will get you nowhere.

It is amazing the number of women from other boats who come over and start drooling about the headroom and space while their husbands are trying to ignore you while launching or retrieving or the number of people who pull up and yap in parks or roadsides and many/most are ex sailers of "classics".
Comments of "wish they had these when I was sailing" are common.

To Brianhar.

Depending on the weather we are planning to go down to St Helen's for the long weekend for a social get together. Not sure if we will sail down or drive down as yet, but the feeling is we'll drive. The admiral is not too confident yet and maybe me too. We are still on that massive learning curve.

Maybe Jack Sparrow can put his boat in the water too.

To Mistral and interested others,

We are planning to arrive at St Helens Sat arvo around 4ish, to put the boat together and launch. Will sleep on the boat, of course, and go for a sail Sunday. Please keep in mind that this is at St Helens and not Royal Geelong.

The ramp fees are $4 per launch and the toilets are open all night. Plenty of sheltered berths, rigging area and parking.

Looking forward to actually meeting other Mac owners.

My long weekend got messed up. Entertaining tomorrow and on Sunday the admiral is on call. Might just get a sail in on Monday and than take the boat out. Was looking forward to the sailing as the weather looked reasonable on PPB. :( :( :( :( :(

Will be able to do some maintenance and sit dreaming in the cockpit.

Brian
Just got the boat back from the evinrude dealer and got heaps of bits to put on it so won't be down there until September now but am almost certain to get there through the summer for a couple of weeks at St Helens and or the Gippsland lakes.
Look forward to catching up then, of course we could always organise a trip down the Murray from Mildura ? will probably be going there just after we get back for the Country music festival which is great for the Macs as all the towns with concerts are on the river so it's just a short walk.

Only two members have PM'd me with any additional details, so I guess there is not much interest in that avenue.

Hi Aussie Mac Owners.

There are several options

1. Have our own site (like TSP - www.trailersailerplace.com.au)
2. Have a sub group on TSP - that only mac owners can see
3. Just use TSP - and ignore the ignorant jealous non mac owners.
4. Have some sort of presence here

Its easy to setup a mac only section on TSP - but non mac owners would not know its there unless they were told (or do we make it read only for non mac owners)?

There must be lots of mac owners - phil was supposed to be selling 18 new ones a year, plus the other grey importers of second hand macs and those who import their own.

I have seen 6 on Lake Mac in one weekend.

I suggest we get as many as possible for the OCtober weekend on Lake Mac. Its a great weekend - with most people very happy to see any trailer sailer in the group. Last year we had 18 boats in the group (this year there will be more Mac's than any other type of TS)

Cheers

Simon
