Moreton Bay

Post by turtonr »

If there is any one interested in a cruise to St Helena's this coming Sunday the 27th July I will be departing from VMR Sandgate around 8:00am weather permitting in my 26M "Balonne." I will have room for an extra crew or two or bring your own boat.
Cheers

I am thinking of an overnighter but that may depend on my kids and colds.

I could be interested in the crew option also... Is that offer still out there?

Cheers

Overnighter is tempting but I don't think I could get organised in time this weekend. The crew option is still there if you want it. I've never been to St Helena's before so the company would be good. Mobile 0429385158. The boat's on a trailer at VMR Sangate.

Thanks Turtonr

It's looking like my kids probably will not be be better by the weekend so the crew option sounds like a plan! I'll give you a call tomorrow....

My Son and I plan to get the boat wet this weekend (14th Nov).

The current plan is to leave from Wynum tomorrow around lunch time (I will be there from 8:30 as Connor has sail training @ RQ)and heading to Horseshoe bay for the night

How was your Saturday? I fitted my Lines led aft blocks and went for a test sail with a friend to Colmslie and back. Had a very pleasant time.Could be heading to Tangalooma and return on next Saturday weather permitting.

It was a fantastic weekend. Horseshoe bay was busy (some 60 boats) but they were all anchored in deep water. We came right in and had a great time. I caught up with a friend over there and we enjoyed a few beers on an almost deserted beach. Next weekend looks to have a bit of wind from the NW so the sand hills might be a bit bumpy.

Pardon my ignorance but where is Horseshoe Bay? I have been sailing with a retired drover/merchant mariner who is a bit of a nomad and either lives on his boat (trailer sailor) or in a caravan for months at a time. He knows the Bay like the back of his hand as well as other venues such as MacQuarie Lakes. He can be ready to go at a minutes notice so if the weather's right (or not within reason) and I have time we take off. I have learnt a lot and he enjoys the company and likes the boat. Are you taking a break over Christmas?

Horseshoe bay is on the southern end of Peel island

Currently we are not sure what our Xmas plans are as work is insanely busy at the moment. So the current plan is not much more than the public hols and a few long weekends. Most likely we will get a few trips in on the bay.

My son has sail training every Sat at RQYS so the plan is to get the boat in as much as we can (weather dependent)
