Re: SCAM ON BOAT 4 SALE
Yup..this has been going on for a couple years at least. Have run into it often selling cars, etc. I always insist on greenback cash or wire transfer onlyTim wrote:I have my M26X listed on another website for sale. I started receiving emails from a guy in the UK wanting to buy it and offering asking price plus extra "for my trouble". The catch was that he wanted me to accept his client's cashiers check for the sale price plus $9000 extra for shipping and have me wire the shipping company the 9k after I received the check. It sounded pretty fishy to me and so I started checking the internet for scams. It seems like this one is pretty well-known. Has anyone else come across it trying to sell something? I'm a little wiser now and glad I still have a boat.

Boat Scam
Hi
I've been reading your comments regarding the boat scam that occasionaly originates here in the UK with some concern.
I live in the UK and buy used Mac26X's from the US and actually bought my 1st some 5 years ago. I currently have one being delivered to New Jersey for shipping to the UK. The point I'm trying to make is please dont tarnish us all here in the UK with the same brush. I actually pay for my boats in full by bank transfer prior to delivery and rely on the good faith of the vendor to deliver the boat to the pick up point and on many occasions buy unseen.
I have never had a bad buy.
