Can you live aboard a boat on lake washington.are there any restrictions on anchoring
on that lake?????

The areas of transient anchorage is limited to just certain areas of the lake, and for limited times, (usually 3 days). Permanent moorage at facilities in Lake Washington and Lake Union are available, and I know some people who have live-aboard slips, but they are hard to get.

Here's a link about the anchorage restrictions in Andrews Bay, and other areas of the lake where temporary anchorage is permitted.

Hi Rich how have you been since the Port Orchard Mac rendezvous.
I liked your link on Lake Washington it should be a help when visiting the Seattle area.

We've anchored overnight in both Andrews Bay and Cozy Cove. We really enjoy sailing on Lake Washington. Cruising through to Lake Union, and taking the locks down to Puget Sound is very interesting. We can pass under the west riser of the I-90 bridge on the Seattle side, but barely, in our X.

Liveaboard (licensed) with the houseboats in montlake and the cut.......Some of the houseboat owners have deals with "friends" to moor and tie up boats for extended stays next to their houseboats. I kept mine for a while in fishermans terminal (Ballard) during a seattle job stint. never more than 3 days at a time..........(had to commute back to the island). Have looked at tying to a friends houseboat....but not really the neighborhood I would want to keep a nice car.

the condos just west of the cement plant in kenmore........have a few folks with itenerant moorage...... Couple of days a week, Same with the newport marina just south of I-90 on the East side of the lake. But the biggest issue is the pumpout/grey water issue on the lake...We are not supposed to discharge untreated waste of any type into the lake. There are a couple of pump boats operating..... but mostly they stay close to the marina....... resulting in you having to go pump out the tanks frequently. (kirkland, renton, Lake union).

Fishermans terminal does have water and power to every slip........ cant say that for a lot of the others..which have power and shared water, ...(which are all day use). Donato's and the other mooring locations in the ship canal seem to be much more receptive to frequent use.

Hi Bubba. I'm on the trailer for the winter, but looking forward to another great year of sailing. I sometimes launch into Lake Washington, but only for a few days at a time. I normally spend my nights anchored near Seward Park, depending on the direction of the wind, either in Andrews Bay, or the cove due south of the park. Water depth in the Andrews Bay anchorage is about 35 feet with weeds on the bottom, and when South of the park, I usually drive in to about 12 feet and drop the hook in a good mud bottom. If you have "Rocker-Stoppers" bring'em as it gets rather choppy in the evenings with all the power boat traffic during the day.

Hi Rich, were are probably launching Thursday, sailing the weekend on the Columbia River and free morrage with power at the city dock in front of an Anthonys . We probably won't visit Lake Washington until spring, it is snowing on the passes.

We liveaboard at the marina just south of I90 as mentioned in an earlier post. It is not necessarily kosher, but as long as the liveaboards there keep things clean and tidy around their boat no one complains. After being there for 3 years, we decided to start a pumpout business for Lake Washington and Lake Union. If you find you are in need check us out at XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX. If you have any questions about living aboard, let me know. This time of year there are a lot of open slips. The downside of the marina is that there really aren't any services for liveaboards. There is a public restroom, gas/diesel, and that is it. The plus side is, no salt water means far less work on the boat. I know of two other places to livaboard i the south end of Lake Washington. The first is Lakewood, it is just north of Seward Park, and the second is Parkshore, which is gated from the road, but not in a nice part of town.
