Le Pearl Noir is Found ...
... if it was in fact ever lost. I had just finished giving my 2008
"Zig Zag" a wash from the last pelican flyover
and decided to go for a stroll to look at the other boats at my marina in Olympia, WA. Looking across the fairway I noticed a beautiful
with a dark hull, red bottom paint and gold striping. As I got closer I realized it was the black pearl, but renamed "ROZ" and looking realy good. I hope to catchup with the new owners and maybe get a ride on a wonderful boat, maybe they will respond to me at my email.

It has quite a few tricks for sailing fast, I took photos of quite a few of them at the Port Orchard rendezvous this summer.

Black Pearl. ROZ. If Shakespeare were around today, he might say, what difference does it make. Whatever name given, she would sail just as sweet

Re: Le Pearl Noir is Found ...
We were down at Blue Water Yachts on Lake Union last 4th of July, enjoying the Seattle fireworks show there. I spoke with Todd about The Pearl. He told me it was up for sale, but that he wouldn't sell it to just anyone. He was interviewing prospective buyers, to make sure the new owner would treat her right. Apparently he arranged a good match. We'll keep an eye out for "Roz", and wish the new owners well.

Congrats to the new owner of la pearle Roz. I wish I knew she was for sale. Didn't think Todd would ever sell her. Had I known, I would probably be in the buying mix. That's the best Mac
in all of Roger's fleet. Congrats again.

Re: Le Pearl Noir is Found ...
Another special black Mac was made and sent to Mike Inmon at MDR.
It is laid up with less GRP in various areas to save weight.
500 lbs less as I recall from conversation with Mike.
He didn't hotrod it like BWY did, it is more like a standard M.
A member who posts here bought it and sails it from various So Cal places.
Pretty boat.

I recall former owner Todd saying it took a ton of work to keep that gleaming black hull looking good. He, and probably Cheryl, put in a lot of hours shining her up before heading out to the rendezvous.

Kevin,
Thanks for the link, and the information. Interesting..
The black Pearl has been sold. I wonder Why Todd sold the boat, and what new boat he would change too, after owning the best Macgregor Powersailer.
I would guess that this improved Macgregor Powersailer would almost double the price of a stock boat.

Hardcrab,
I do not wish to steal this thread, but I feel that Mike Inmon deserves a great deal of credit for his work in designing a very unique 26M. Specific features of his prototype boat will probably show up in future 26M's. Mike's boat continues to be an experimental model.
Mike has designed many/most of the details of the current MacGregor production boats.
Thanks for the compliment. I have tried my best to modify Mike's boat only as I think he would approve.
If others are interested, I may post a separate topic regarding Mike's experimental boat.
If anyone sees the "Sea Eagle", please hail us as we'd love to meet you.

Yeah... me too... but I doubt if you ever will. He keeps the boat very clean 'cause stray threads really show up on a black boat.delevi wrote:Dennis,
