I'm Back!

Well, to make a long story short........

Sept 2001 (just after the 11th), purchased an '02 26X, it arrives Dec 21st. Yay "X"Mas!! She was named PROTEUS, and I was a member of this board.
(new, New Boat)

Jul 3rd 2004, on a whim, purchase a '78 Bristol 29.9. Gonna see the world, pay homage to the "true Sailors", Master and Commander and all that.
(new, Old Boat

July 4th 2004, underway, enroute to new home with Bristol, thinking "What the sweet barnacles did I do?"

Dec 05, PROTEUS is sold....(

Fall 07, 3 seasons later, went nowhere after all (3 hr sails, LOTS of maintenance, High yard cost's, top speed 7 kts @ 25 kt winds.), family never liked Bristol (But in all fairness she is in great condition for her age, hope you like teak, very stable at those higher winds)
Start selling ZEPHYR.

May 2nd 2009: After many false starts and promises...ZEPHYR SOLD!!!

May 9th 2009: Purchased '02 X boat! Yayyyyyy!!

Oh man, am I back.

Expensive lesson, I was an "X" Sailor, I am an "X" Sailor, I will always be...an "X" Sailor.

Welcome back! Those of us who have owned or sailed much larger craft know about those endless maintenance chores, parts that are always very expensive, and "shoal draft" that catches every shoal and traps the boat til next high tide.... so we downsized to a Mac for very solid reasons, not the least of which is financial.
Go ahead and let others dream of sailing a bigger craft, but youi try to do that with some one else's boat, don't buy one. Then come home and enjoy your Mac any time, any place you want for peanuts.

Welcome back,the more that i look at boats the more that i realise the mac is for me,i have buddies who keep their keel boats at a marina,its costing them$8000.00 a year just to park and drive down to their boats and thats before you go out and before you get those maintenance bills.Ive got mine at a local club,it costs me $300.00 a year for a walk on walk off mooring and my boat is only 5 mins from my business.My wife likes the rivers,so do i but i also like to sail.I need a boat that can go down the river,under the bridges and not get stuck on the shallow sand banks and when i want to go out to sea,i have a 50 on the back that means i can cover the distance in 2 hours not the 3 or 4 that some of them take.

the mac 26 is the ideal and only boat that can do what i want
