And the dogs those guys owned, wow, they were tied to a tree at the lake, with chain you could tow the titanic with, and as you got near the dog, the owner, yells over to you, after popping the tab off a Coors, "dont go near that dog boy, unless you want to lose an arm" Of course after a few seasons you and the dog are best friends. hats off to those special breed of tuff men that had the nerve to buy a boat and bring it to the lake for everyone's enjoyment.

So the ratio of mix went from 24 to one to 32 to one (talk about smoke) to 50 to one, to todays up to a hundred to one in the oil injected models, and even less oil with the new high pressure fuel injected 2 strokes.
My seagulls use 10:1 - but you can always follow the smoke trail home. Think of it as a phase 1 GPS (Guided Per Smoke)

Kelly yesterday I picked up my trusted 4 hp evinrude from the mac, It hasnt been running for two years. In my back yard I blew up the 9.5 foot dinghy and washed it getting it ready for the trip next week. When I bought the honda 2hp last week I just mounted it on the transom placed a big square bucket of water under it and fired it up. That honda's been running all week off and on as I couldnt resist walking by and giving it a yank and let run for awhile.

That water looked as clean as when I filled the bucket, fast forward to yesterday, I mounted the evinrude placed it in the same bucket, put some gas in it, first pull she fires up. I ran it for about 15 minutes. That bucket looked like the Exxon Valdez just passed through it.

Imagine what the lakes took on back then in the 1940-90's, with all those two smokers dumping half their unburned gas and oil in them all those years. Let alone those inboard oil leakers into the bilge, being pumped out into the lake cause all those wooden boats weep ed water into the bilge too.
Good thing its only a few of us today that run those outboards. I do love my evinrude though.

Finally shes broke in, the 115 and her first trip to the island, catalina, gas milage was as good as I thought, with nasty nasty seas and average rpm of 2500 it burned 9 gallons towing a heavy whaler to boot.
Ran for 6 and a half hours and although phisicly big she works great on the mac. Hers some photos I pronmised.

Looking good Mike

What kind of performance did you get? Did you ever get any flat water to test her out on? I love how mine fly's on glass like water with just a ripple on it.

Great for skiing.

Cheers
