Charter a MacGregor sailboat in Chesapeake Bay area

Post by lcalligaro »

Hi,
My husband and I are sailors thinking about purchasing a used MacGregor sailboat (26). We'd like to charter one for a day sail in the Cheasapeake Bay sometime this summer. Does anyone have any suggestions about how to accomplish this? Company names, individuals? Thanks so much!!

You did not specify what model MacGregor boat you are looking for. There are the older 26's without the large engine and then there are the newer 26X and 26M models, both of which will handle 50 HP motors. I have moved your post from the Venture forum to here for more exposure. Good luck.

I don't know anyone doing charters with a Mac but we are getting a group of boats together next weekend (July 11-12). I'm sure we will have some :macm: and :macx: that you can take a peek at. See http://www.macgregorsailors.com/forum/v ... =4&t=13110 for more info.

I'm usually on the Potomac and would be more than happy to go out for a few hours some day.

So far this summer, my :macm: has been to Lake Anna and O.C., MD and I'm working on the Mac gathering and heading up to DC to catch a Nats game with a group of guys and stay on the Anacostia (I hope the bottom of the boat doesn't rot out overnight... :? )

If you have any questions, toss them up here where everyone can jump in.

I keep my 2009 Mac on the Potomac in DC. I would be happy to take you out, or let you go out if your interested in sailing the Potomac.

Let me know about the Nationals game, I would love to do some sailing with you all!

Tom, Will you be joining us July 11-12 on the Rhode River south of Annapolis?

I'd like to see a new, pretty :macm:!!!

Did you get a blue or white? If you got the white, we will wait for you...

I'll let you know about the Nats game as I firm it up. Checking with Coast guard station to see if they will have any issues.

Casa Rio Marina in Mayo, MD is home to a lot of MacGregors, and Grab Bag Sailboats at the marina may be a good place to ask.

Aside from that, our MacGregor Gam July 11-12 would be a great place for you to learn more about MacGregors - and I'm another Mac owner who would be delighted to take you out sailing.
