No Longer a Mac Owner
No Longer a Mac Owner
We have sold our Mac after five delightful years. We bought a Nimble Nomad pocket trawler, and considered keeping Lucy E. for a few more years, but felt that she wouldn't get the attention and use she deserves. And, while we are reasonably fit for our years, we also wanted the additional space and comfort that the Nomad provides.
We have found our Mac to be a fun vessel, easy to sail, dependable under power, and always forgiving of her owners mistakes, and she has done well in all kinds of weather. We wish her and her new owners well.

Congrats. on the new Trawler.
Our choice would be a Trawler also, if we were not happy owners of our Mac. Close friends of ours were prior sailors for years, and have since purchased a trawler. Theyve traveled quite a bit on the new boat, and spend quite a bit of time within their Marina. Accomodations are comfortable.

We have been looking at 42 ft multi-hull sail boats for a full time liveaboard, but it will be 2 years before I will have the cash to buy anything and then it probably be used.

That boat looks really nice! Fairly economical to run and spacious.I wonder if it is easy to launch or will you keep it in the water all the time? Enjoy the new boat.

Re: No Longer a Mac Owner
Dubraque,
During a recent in-water boat show locally, I and many others were amused at the Ranger-R 25 Tug displayed -- "very pricey". It has real nice accomodations, and features, for such a small boat, and would seem great for waterway trips, etc. for 2 aboard. It would seem suitable for extended ICW trips also. The Ranger Tug R-25 received lots of attention at this show. The boat was a beautiful blue hull, white deck, and a lot of interior room.
Your Nomad Trawler and this Ranger R-25 look very similar. The inboard consumes lots of space, in comparison to the design of the Nomad which has an outboard. Anyway, real nice looking boats.
Congrats. again.

Re: No Longer a Mac Owner
A Mac 26X owner, after surgery relized he would no longer be able to Sail. a little to dangerous to go on deck to preform Sailing preperatons, especially if the boat is rocking. He Decided to sell the Mac and buy a smaller motor boat. I suggested that a smaller motor boat was less seaworthy, less cabin space, less Cockpit area, and trailoring or Marina fees are similar. Remove the Mast and Sails, and you have a good Cruising MOtor Boat.
