Hello Moe - nice to hear from you...dont know if you caught this but Im a Whaler owner now too...one Harpoon and also looking for a Whaler for a crash boat for the kids yacht club...

On a somber note, I checked out the website and the first post was two missing older gentlemen on a 28 WHaler missing in Chesapeake...ending was not happy - no PFDs, fell overboard, found 3 days later

Hi guys. Stephen, these are the Type 1, offshore vests Barb and I wore in the Whaler when Lake Erie was kicking up:

With mirrors, whistles and strobes tethered on. We still have them, but they're too bulky to wear around sailboat rigging, so we now wear auto-inflating Mustangs, now also with rigging knives.

Hearing of the older gentlemen who went overboard, I have to wonder... I also almost went overboard trying to pee over the side one day in the chop, so I finally caved in to Barb's begging for a Porta-Potty aboard the Whaler:

She sewed up a red nylon pup tent that clipped to the bimini A-Frame and covered the potty area and that behind the helmsman.

Congrats on the Harpoon!

I have two of these in the ditch bag of Catigale, and I try not to think of the scenario where I am putting the kids into them and looking at their faces....I also have mirrors, whistles, flares and the GPS/VHF SH 850 model in that same bag. All the spare life jackets go into it so it and then I can lanyard the whole crew to the ditch bag so that we stay together in that scenario. Tethers and carabiners are all in the bag, ready to go.

It felt wierd putting that together, but I feel I am prepared for that highly improbable day about as best as I can.

Welcome any comments on other ideas or things Ive missed.
