The grass will die under the boat, you can do the pavers than put 2 inches of gravel between them.

I figured I would just commit myself to always owning a boat otherwise I will have to move the 3 tons of stone out of the yard ! :(

An alternative to concrete is road base with a little cement mixed in and then compacted. 4-6 inches deep would be enough. it is more stable that gravel, it wont let the weeds through and it is relatively easy to break up when you want to remove it. Mix in a barrow, lay down a few inches, moisten a little and pack by stomping. Continue until you have sufficient height.

I like Matt's driveway using the PA Redstone, which I have also. I'll have to extend my driveway to accomodate the Mac & Sports car. Currently parked on my existing redstone drive are my 2 trucks I have the boat & the car sitting on large concrete blocks which I got at Lowe's. The blocks work fine but the weight of the Mac wheels on the lawn when moving the boat cause's ruts when the grass is wet from rain.

Hi im new to this forum and i am not not a mac owner yet but plan to be in 3 to 4 yrs (newborn baby is making me take some time) however i do know a little about landscaping, let me know what exactly you are wanting to do as i have some suggestions from cheap to expensive, sorry i didn't read all the posts as you may have already covered that. i will say that i have an old truck i keep parked that doesnt run and i move it a space over every other month and my grass stays ok at best, however space is not an issue for me.

Hey Jamie, keep the faith. It took me five yrs to get my MAC, I waited and planned and finally found just the right one :) Meanwhile I lurked on this site and obtained/gleaned all the information possible. Wonderful stuff here :!: Congrats on the new baby. Read, read, read, there is a wealth of info to be had, learned, and practiced. Great people too.

Ditto on that Jamie! Took me 5 years with a lot of reading and lurking. I was very well informed when we bought our :macm: !!!

I liked the paver idea in this thread. I've been picking up a half dozen every month since reading this one and am slowing improving the gravel on which Galactica sits.

A good cheap option to stop the grass from growing underneath is shingles lay them where the boat sits park the trailer on 2x6's if you want the grass back later rake the ground under the shingles with a garden rake and throw some seed, easy and cheap. good luck enjoy

Mowing, sailing, mowing, sailing, my choice sailing, no grass for us, we put in native gardens and gravel and still have little time for sailing.

Okay, I have exhibited self-control but can no longer restrain myself.

Read thread title again...

Response - I dont recommend it. Its a hard enough maneuver when you are sober...
