Noise sure is a hard thing to try and tell someone else what is loud and what isn't. Ruth and I have no problems at all sleeping with my CPAP machine running and it is louder than the frig, yet on some sleep apnea forums some people complain about the very CPAP machine I have and most others and then there are others like myself that don't think they are loud at all.

Of course if you and I were talking I would have to ask you about 1/2 the time to repeat what you just said. That might give you a clue right there how well I hear in the first place :) . Actually though I do hear low noises quite well and don't think anyone would have a problem with one of these keeping them awake unless they had their head right against it and as Dave said if it is a problem just turn it off for the night,

now this is sweet!

although i would NOT use in my Mac, it would provide additional space for long SUV trips.
for example, on long road trip trailering my X to a destination (ie. Lake Powell).
it's $299 here in the states.

I can sleep well on the boat and if all sounds stay the same I sleep. If a pen droped from the table I would hear it.
Other sounds like Human voices I hear only what I want to hear and tell others to repeat what they have just said even tho my brain comprehended it but my train of thought was elseware.
Don't tell my Girlfriend, she thinks I am hard at hearing.

On Little Rascal (1983 Mac 25), We also have an Engle 35, powered by 2 Optima "YellowTop" batteries, charged by a 55 amp alternator mounted on top of our 9.9 Evinrude Outboard fueled by twin 6 gal tanks. We call it "Mr. Fusion".
We are never out of power, but one fully charged yellowtop runs the fridge for a full day with some left over. With full fuel tanks we can cruise for days without having to go ashore. Little Rascal out!

LOL.....I think I heard that in Vegas  I've thought about modding my outboard, but was afraid of decreasing its reliability........I can go without electricity, but not the iron genny

Update,
Just returned from a 3 day cruise to Cayo Costa, FL.
Unpluged the Edgestar 8 am friday from AC and went DC with 12.8 volts showing on volt meter. Sunday at 4 pm reg. 12.6 volts.
All items on board were on the twin 27 group batteries with no chargeing hooked up. Watched a 2 hr movie on a 15.6 computer, listened to a 200 watt sterio, interior lighting, depth sounder and other items were attached to the twin batteries. Nothing was hooked up to the startering battery with the chargeing from the Honda outboard.
I put in 1 frozzen gal. of water and 5- 20oz water bottles along with all or needs for trip.
Bottom line is temps only got to 78 degrees in cabin and 62 at night so this is not a test for true FL. 90 degree heat.
It did give me indication that this 66 quart cooler will do it's job for a 4-5 day cruise in Florida without recharge and probably never get below 12.2 volts. Adding a gal. or 2 frozzen water will prolong turn on big time if you set temps at 38 degrees.

Thanks Dave and it is great you are getting out. Probably won't be until May for us, but meanwhile the update sure sounds promising. I doubt we will have any frozen water in the cooler as it will of melted before we get to where we put the boat in the water, but still it sounds like the frig will be just fine,

This cooler is much more efficiant than a 5-6 day Ice cooler. 2-3 gals frozzen water should keep it cold enough for 5 days with all your precold stuff in 85 degree temps. without any power to it.
Here is Pic's of Cayo Costa, FL. we had around 22 Trailer Sailer boats show up from the WCTSS for the 3 day event.

Dave, thanks for that report. Sounds like the Edgestar is pretty efficient. That was the only power draw I was concerned about.
I should be fine with the power setup I'm planning. 130w of solar, charging 6-7 hours a day in Bahamas should keep up with the draw. LED's and stereo draw practically nothing, and no VHF or chartplotter while we're at anchor.

If you have a duel 27 house deep cycle House Battery and a small 24 starter battery linked to a onboard 10 amp duel charger 110 ac and runing the Honda with a max output of 10 amps you should only need a 65 watt solar panel.
Make sure you have a Isulator between the house and starting battery so the system won't drain to each other. Deep Cycle usually is rated at 12.8 volts fully charge were the starting battery is 13.2 fully charge.
You also can just have all batteries same type to charge all systems as long as they are same type and same yr.
This will do away with the Insulator that draws voltage.
I am looking at changeing my starter battery to the same 27 group battery and run 3 batteries as House. I never would down the batteries enough to not start enigine. I do have cut off's at 10.8 volts on systems and even that should start the Honda with 3 batterys.
That being said I will never get below 12.2 volts on a 5 day cruise with no chargeing at all . You can always take a $129 1200 watt low profile gen to charge your batteries. (have one and fits lower aft cockpit and runs 5100 btu air condition from Northern Tools).
Are we having Fun Yet?

Okay, I hooked up my new digital Ammeter to my Edgestar fridge.
I'm not sure how accurate it is because with zero load it read .2 amps. Still, this looks pretty good.

Hey there is a lot of electricity in the air in Montana 8) . My hair, back when I had some, was standing straight out once on a mountain top outside of Bozeman in a storm :o .

Whose meter is that? From SolarBlvd.com? Mine looks like that. I was surprised when it came an you had to hook it up on the negative side.

So you're saying the EdgeStar was pulling maybe 3.5 amps with the compressor running? I'm impressed with the insulation in them. I started ours 3-4 weeks ago in the boat which was in the shop and took it down to about 38 degrees and then turned it off. I looked yesterday and it was still 45 deg. inside of it and the shop has been 53 deg or warmer all of this time. I'm anxious to see how it works this summer,
