Some dates to get together (Aus)

Post by brianhar »

Greetings,
been thinking about making a bunch of dates for us to get together. My thoughts are that the Gippsland Lakes is by far the simplest, however we should try a bit of diversity. In regards to the lakes, it would be easiest to meet on the Friday night somewhere between the Yacht Club and the pub. We can then decide where to spend the next night/s.
I think of this as a bunch of dates that lead to opportunities, if you can't make it, no big deal. This is just trying to maximise the opportunity to get together. Even if the weather is untoward, we can get together and hold a bar down somewhere.

24/26 Apr 10 - GLYC (ANZAC Day)
13/15 Jun 10 - GLYC (Queen's B'Day)
31Jul/01 Aug 10 - GLYC
18/19 Sep 10 - GLYC
30 Oct/02Nov 10 - Rose Festival at Albury Wodonga Yacht Club
05/07 Nov 10 Trailable Festival - DYC
Xmas - GLYC at some dates to be discussed later.

Whilst this is all Victoian Locations (Albury Wodonga being the exception), we can always add to this list.

Wood be great to get together a share a frothy one.

Have a good one

My apologies,
however after setting all the dates for a get together, I cannot make the first one this weekend. I'm off to Surfers, as I've bought myself a second MacGregor. This one has white hulls instead of the beautiful Blue hull that I currently have.

What can be better than having two Macs in the back yard? :D

It's only a short 3500km round trip.

Definitely will be at the next one.

Hope that this weekend works out fine.

With one foot in each boat, you will soon end up in the drink. That white one will go much slower. :D

bttw.. Coming home from Queensland yesterday met another new Mac owner in Albury. Just picked up his 26X and was towing it back home. Hope to see him on the forum soon.

So, is anyone coming down the Lakes for the long weekend? We're coming down for it. It may be the middle of Winter, but I'm surethat we'll get a good bit of sailing in, and a good bit of socialising wouldn't go astray :)

We will go down to Paynesville on Friday night after work. Meet up with anyone else who turns up and make a plan from there. Monday lunchtime will see us pull out of the water to go home.

Well, the next planned weekend to get together is coming up fast (31Jul/01Aug). Is anyone planning to come along? :) Last get together over the June long weekend had just John, his son Josh and Val and I. It was a great weekend and despite it being the middle of Winter was a good weekend. Would be great to see some more come on down.

We met up with a couple at Metung (buggered if I can remember their names) in an :macx: who live in Wodonga and leave their boat at Tambo. Naturaly we had to give the association and this website a plug. 8)

For future dates. The water level on Lake Hume (Albury/Wodonga) is rising at a good rate and is highly likely to be well above 50% this year. If the water level gets that high, we could do a cruise from the yacht club to Tallangatta, and that would be just fantastic.

Another thought I have been having is to plan a trip from Melbourne to the Witsunday's at about this time next year. Concepts may be to stop at the odd place along the way for a sail e.g.Brisbane, where some Mac locals could show us the local sights.

On a last note, I (through my nerdy son) am putting an Australian Mac Association website together. The intent is not to be flash, but to help people realise what is out there and how we can help.

Have a good one, and remember that a bad day sailing is much better than a day in the office

Hi Brian,

We are more than likely out, although love to go for a sail. Had an op on my hand and final inspection on it on the 30th of July. 3 weeks later off to Europe for 9 weeks. It looks like it that we won't be going on the water till at least the middle of November.

Whitsundays next year sounds great, but we're planning to hire a keeler at some stage. than.

C'mon there must be someone else silly enough to want to come down the lakes in the middle of Winter.

How cold can it get?

Have an idea that this time we'll go from Paynesville to Plover point for Saturday night. Would be wise to have 2 tanks of fuel on board, just in case the wind is coming from the wrong way.

Val will not be coming along as she will be going to her daughters baby shower thingy.
I'll find some silly bugger to come along for the trip. Just so long as they drink too much, all will be right.

Any more takers?

Have managed to convince my son and his girlfirend to come along for the weekend.

Am exploring the idea of taking the Monday off work and making a long weekend out of it! 8)

Would be much better if was more than just 2 :macm: s.

Well we have a weekend get together coming up on the weekend of 18/19 Sep. Being Spring the weather should be a bit more condusive to sailing. :)

Would be a good opportunity to get together and chew the fat, drink too much and talk about all things MacGregor.

Well, who's for it then?

Well it looks like the weather for this weekend is going to be pretty foul, so we're giving it a miss. This is a bugger as this effectively wipes out the two of the planned activity dates. :( Hopefully the next one comes off. :)

Over the Melbourne cup 4 day weeekend, we'll definately be going to Albury-Wodonga to sail on Lake Hume for four days. The first couple of day's we'll join in the racing (others can sail about and laugh at us). The next two days I'm really looking forward to sailing down to the town of Tallangatta. Due to the massive amount of rain that the area has endured recently, the water level is already up to 75%. We only need 51% to sail to Tallangatta. This is a water level that has not been seen on this lake for many a long year. This weekend is also Tallagatta's Rock & Roll weekend and is just magic to see. 8)

Let me know if you want more detail.
