Too small for the hole
I purchased a Shurflo electric faucet with a 3/4 " threaded shaft, as per one of the mods. My newly purchased stainless steel one-hole bar sink has a hole that is 1 1/2" in diameter.
Anyone have an idea as to how to compensate for the size difference

I replaced my factory stock faucet with a dual action one which was undersize - I used 5200 and a piece of starboard to cover the oversize hole, then drilled correct size.

Re: Too small for the hole
Sorry Bubba, I don't know what finder washers are, maybe they are what we used!
We purchase some nice small FlickMaster taps for Imagine's galley and head sinks, they were a little small to fit the holes left by the original tps.
I purchased from the plumbing supplies a large SS round plate for each, they are used between the wall and the tap in a laundry setup to cover the hole in the wall, it looks like a large very thin shiny washer, cost about $1.10 AU, for the underside of the hole I cut a 10mm thick piece of PP plastic and drilled a hole in the middle for the tap hoses, the whole setup is then held together with the tap bolt and plate.
Hope that helps.
Glenn

Re: Too small for the hole
I just replaced my faucets last week. I used a piece of 1/4" plexiglass.
I cut 2, 1 top 1 bottom, beveled the edge with a sander, painted the underside black.
Nice & glossy, matched the head door in my 2000 X and worked well

The dangers of spell-check. Try "fender washers."pokerrick1 wrote:You don't know what finder washers areThe Mutt wrote:Sorry Bubba, I don't know what finder washers are![]()

Re: Too small for the hole
I have never seen large fender washers that would have a 3/4" diameter hole and 2" or so in diameter. What kind of company would sell something like that? But the idea of using plexiglass or a piece of starboard would work. I also could not figure out what PP plastic actually is. Thanks for all the suggestions.
This board is so helpful. There are no Macgregor sailors where I live.

Now, Now Highlander, what happens in the Navy stays in the Navy.
I'm and Ozzy, bugger can have a different meaning here.
a couple of examples

Canadians seem to get the Ozzie joke, not so much Canada's southern states ... you probably know them bundled together as America.
Back on Thread .. are we talking about finder washers or fender washers or holes in a bit of old driftwood?

Re: Too small for the hole
When I replaced the stock hand pump with one that worked, I cut an acrylic disc (using cheap hole saws) large enough to cover the original holes. Underneath I put a large piece of acrylic that covered the entire area behind the sink. This was to reduce the flexing of the surface whenever I pumped.
