Gonna try to sell my Mac
I'll go into more detail later but because I work too much I think I will try and sell my Mac. I love the boat but work @ 95 hours in 5 days and field 20-50 calls each weekend.I'm planning on expanding my businesses greatly over the next coming years. I'm usually drained by Sat. morning. My family isn't excited about being in the ocean all the time. When I sell the boat I will probably get a Hobie Adventure Island Tandem trimaran/kayak and just go it solo into the ocean when in the mood. I'm pretty spontaneous and might better benefit from a craft with a very short set-up time and beach launch through the breakers. I've launched solo many times in pretty large surf with my 12' kayak and the hydrobike. I've had to wait up to 20 minutes on the outside timing and counting the incoming swells turning into breakers and race in between sets or during a lull to get back to the beach alive. I wear a helmet and thick life jacket if it is dangerous. I also like the idea of dragging a longboard , a shortboard and the trimaran to the closeby surfing beach for the day with the wife and kids. Then I could spend most of the day in the ocean and just check up on them from the water and go in to shore every hour - We've done this many times over the years. It is sad to sell the boat because I am married to my profession and can't seem to get good help but I am providing my family with a nice life and my businesses rapidly come apart at the seams when I stray too far away. I've derived great enjoyment from this site all this time. It is better than TV or taking vacations to me. I'll keep posting as we move forward.- Curtis

Re: Gonna try to sell my Mac
I't's a shame to hear you are selling your Mac, sometimes something has to give, with me I think it was my sanity, like you we seem to spend all our time working, time for a change .. we deceided Yesterday we are going to split our main business and sell off both parts, as we own everything we can take it a bit easier for a while and finish setting up our other businesses to full operation, do more travelling and sailing.

Curtiss - a bit personal but please take this for some thought....from an older guy who marched down this path for a while and was lucky enough to have an older guy bump me off it, early.but I am providing my family with a nice life

Allow me to agree. "Togetherness" is good.Catigale wrote:In between the age of 0-14, the only thing your kids need is.......you. Not your money, things, vacations, travel, etc.but I am providing my family with a nice life
Curtis: Best to you, and your family -- with or without a sailboat !
And, by the way, kayaks are great "inexpensive" fun for the entire family. Throw a couple kayaks on the vehicle roof, load up the family, and set up a tent at any nearby water's edge.

Re: Gonna try to sell my Mac
Thanks Glen , Gazmn , Boblee , Catigale and Russ. I know this is true Catigale , about the kids. Luckily I am able to slip into the house many times during the day for 10-20 minutes at a time and lately have been redispatching calls to my other drivers unless it's a really good trip for the two hours or so after the kids get out of school. I don't drive on most weekends so Sat. and Sun. are reserved for the kids as well. I can conduct most business by phone during the weekend with 20-50 brief 1-3 minute calls even when when hiking or whatever with the kids. I have had many taxi customers that were 50 years old plus tell me the one thing they wish they could change is that they would have spent more time with their kids and not worked all 7 days a week. If I get the hobie tandem island I should be able to make trips to Mission Bay on Saturdays with the kids as they play all day swimming and digging in the sand and we could sail about from location to location.. My wife works all day Sat. so that is why I haven't been able to launch the Mac solo on Sat. with the kids. It would be too dangerous to attempt a solo launch of the Mac. while trying to watch the kids around the launch ramp, I wouldn't even try it. At Mission Bay they don't have walk along docks were you can walk the mac off the trailer so wheeling a sail yak from the vehicle to the sand would work as I have done this many Saturdays in the past with the kids on the hydrobike.

Re: Gonna try to sell my Mac
Well you know they say, the two happiest days in a man's life are the day he buys his boat and the day he sells it.
I'm not so sure, but whatever you do to recreate after 95hour weeks is a good thing.

The happiest day in my life was NOT the day I bought my Mac, cause then I had to endure Mike squeezing every nickel out of memikelinmon wrote:The two happiest days in a boaters life are Sat and Sun! Good luck Curtis.

PS Hey Mike, remember after I made the fake call to my wife telling her I couldn't buy the boat (cost too much), the fake fax you got from Evinrude reducing the price of the engine
