MacGregor X mast height
The application form for a marina that I'm filling out asks for the height of the mast above the water line. I have no practical way of measuring this and besides my boat is not in the water.
Can someone tell me what the height of the mast above the water line would be on a MacGregor X model?
Thanks.

Actual measurement on my
, this includes my 3db Marine Antenna and rounded UP.
36 Ft
I have no idea whether or not you also have a 3' Mast mounted Antenna, but if they're talking using that mast height as a gimmick for a slip fee, subtract the 3'.
FWIW, this number is useful in route planning apply to Bridge clearances, suggest that you mark it somewhere to always have handy. With regards to the antenna installed or not,
keep the 3' for an additional safety margin regarding the aforementioned bridge clearance.

Re: MacGregor X mast height
The
mast is 28' [2' shorter than the
]. The mast step is 5' above the waterline, so the
mast top is 33' above the waterline.

Re: MacGregor X mast height
All depends on how high your tides are. Higher tide & the further you are from the shoreline the shorter your mast will be closer to the shore line the taller your mast will be. On lower tides vise versa , you also must take into consideration the density of the surrounding air masses & any wave or swell height must be calculated into the eqcasion, plus the horizion level at any given time will alter these # so back ground info can be critical & one has to be very careful with one's figures as a calulated mistake could be drasticaly bad for your mast putting severe atmostphere pressures on the mast could drasticaly shorten its length pernamently not even figuring in the extreme side pressures could cause severe twist in the mid section, also the sun- rise & sun- set times along with full moon eposure must all be put into the final calculated figures
Hope this Helps J

Of course you haven't allowed for the down under factor.....we measure our masts not by height as much as how low....but all the above calculations still apply just in negative values HOW LOW CAN YOU GO

Cold water Tide can reduce your mast height considerably.
Kinda' like the way you let the air out of your tires when you need to go through a low tunnel.

Yes
This is true but one must also consider in where they live on the Equator scale
heat cold factors can be extremly critical
Where's R/S when you need him !

Ballast in, ballast out. Wax on, wax off. With the proper wax on the hull, it will allow the ballast to settle the boat lower in the water, quicker. White hull quicker than blue, of course.
