Lower shrouds rub on mast
I noticed some chafe on the mast where the lowers contact it as it is rotated to leeward. A quick check of the manual makes no mention of a way to limit the amount the mast rotates. As always i did site a search before bugging anyone with this question. Clear tubing with my fav repair materials, zip ties, come to mind.

First off, you're not bugging anyone. We have all asked our share of questions which we thought may be bugging someone, somewhere. Most probably on the Sailing Anarchy site, or somewhere else where Mac's are not respected
Second, maybe a picture posted would help in understanding what your particular problem is.
Third, there are some of us who are in area's which are still cold and windy. We look on any Florida, California, etc posting with contempt

Re: Lower shrouds rub on mast
Ixneigh,
Good video. I just so happen to have my
sitting in my driveway with my mast up. And there was just enough light for me to go take a look...
I have the same issue. When the mast is fully rotated it rubs with the lower shrouds. And I have marks on my mast pretty much right where the shadow was in your video.
I have never noticed it before. But I am not going to worry about it either. Maybe if my boat was brand new and didn't have a single mark/scratch/blemish on it then I would be a little concerned but if I have never noticed then I am not going to start worrying about it now. But I have lots of battle scars on my boat...
I would guess it might be controllable if you could limit the mast from rotating all the way.
Good luck.
Cheers,
Jim

Re: Lower shrouds rub on mast
Ixneigh I dont have that rub taking place.. So I cannot help with that one..
As for the Head as you discuss.. I have the same size area and fit a porta potty ( seldom used ) but we do eat many or maybe most our meals at the table .. Table Mod is a good option for numerous reasons, but I still have the Factory unit and I have slept on it a few times .. No issues and I come in at 207.. and I fit on the potty and have 4 vertical storage drawers next to mine ..
i.e. I read in the Bathroom/Library .. I dont read in the head, its in and out.. so to speak
Its nice to have , but not nice to empty!
IMHO pee only! I have a pump out for Marinas and a macerate pump overboard for when I am beyond the 3 mile coastal waters... limit..

Re: Lower shrouds rub on mast
Thanks everyone who looked at the video. Those marks appeared after just one blustery afternoon sailing, so i did want to find a fix for the issue, esp. since the boat lives in saltwater.
My fix for now is white plastic wire covers from west marine. Twelve bucks for four. Two on each wire. Those should keep the chafe down till i can work out a mast rotation stop.
